Check when your wheelie bins need to go out for collection this Christmas.

During the Christmas period there’s one change that we all forget to check. The dreaded Christmas bin collection dates. If you miss one, you can end up stuck with all that wrapping paper recycling and festive food scraps for weeks- so don’t forget to write the changes down.

This year, the bin collections in the week leading up to Christmas are one day earlier and there are no changes between Christmas and New Year, except on Saturday 1 January, when the collection will take place one day later than usual.

As usual, the council advise you to put the bins out at 6.30am on your collection day and then bring in again as soon as possible after it has been emptied.

Household Waste and Recycling Centres are only closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, so you can take your large recycling items between these days.

To find out when your usual bin day is, you can visit the Leeds Government website. From here, simply input your postcode and the system will tell you when your black and green bins are due to be collected, as well as other useful information like how to order a new wheelie bin.
