A fish and chip shop not far from Leeds has started battering the trimmings you’d usually find on your Christmas dinner.

Frank’s Fish and Chip Shop has taken the mighty pigs in blankets, coated them in batter and chucked them in the fryer.

The chippy down in South Kirkby is also frying the most divisive festive veg – the brussel sprout.

It seems a novel way to try and spruce up a sprout, often the last thing left on the dinner table.

Marlborough Fisheries, a chippy in Featherstone, has been serving the mini cabbages in battered form for years too.

Responding to The Yorkshireman’s post about the deep-fried sprouts, one person wrote: “Tried them & LOVED them!!! Awesome chippy with amazing staff.”Another said: “Sounds yummy”
