Cooplands is opening a new Leeds bakery on Otley road

Northern bakery giant Cooplands is opening a new store in north Leeds, it has been revealed.

The popular Yorkshire bakery chain has confirmed it will be bringing its freshly baked sweet and savoury treats to Otley road later this month.

The 136-year-old bakery, which was first founded in Scarborough, will be openig its new store on Thursday 16 September.

It will be the 12th Cooplands store to open in Leeds, proving just how popular their baked goods are in the city.

The chain is in the midst of an expansion, having recently opened a handful of new stores across the country. Cooplands also recently teamed up with Heron Foods to launch its own frozen range.

Further stores located across Leeds can be found in Alwoodley, Moortown, Roundhay, Slaid Hill, Otley, Cross Gates, Garforth, Boston Spa,  Bramley Shopping Centre and Wetherby.

The new outlet will be selling a range of freshly made sandwiches and indulgent cream cakes, alongside other freshly made bakery favourites like sausage rolls, pies and pasties.

First founded in 1885 by a young husband and wife, Frederick and Alice Coopland, the northern bakery giant initially began life as a small pork butcher and pie maker – making a name for itself with its bestselling pork pies and savouries.

Today, it is one of the leading bakery outlets in the country with 160 outlets to be found across the UK.

You will be able to find the new Cooplands at 491-493 Otley Road, Adel, Leeds, LS16 7YB, open Monday to Saturday between 7.30 am – 5 pm and 10 am – 4 pm on Sundays.
