The Diocese of Leeds Twitter account has had plenty of fun poked at it overnight, after it shared a photo of the wrong church in its congratulatory tweet to Bradford.

The account posted to praise its Yorkshire neighbours on being named City of Culture 2025 – but used a picture of a building that’s 180 miles away from Bradford.

The now-deleted tweet featured an image of The Cathedral of St John the Baptist, all the way in Norwich, which is quite embarrassing when you think that Bradford Cathedral is actually part of Diocese of Leeds.

Of course, people were quick to point out the error, teasing the account for its mix-up.

One person wrote: “Nothing says Bradford, West Yorkshire, City of Culture 2025, like a picture of Norwich RC Cathedral.”

Another quipped: “Bradford Cathedral is much nicer than that *checks images of churches in Bradford*….. ‘random church’.”

Someone else commented: “This isn’t Bradford Cathedral, Your Grace!”

Bradford Cathedral itself saw the funny side, replying to people pointing out the error.

They wrote, alongside a laughing face emoji: “We didn’t want to say anything.”

They also posted: “We once saw Leeds Minster on a York 10k run medal so anything goes!”
