A huge fire has broken out on Marsden Moor again, with the region heading into a spell of warm, dry weather.

The West Yorkshire countryside spot has previously been devastated by blazes, including a huge fire in 2019 which was described by West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service as ‘one of the biggest moorland fires’ it had ever had to deal with.

Today, images and videos circulating on social media show a huge blaze raging through the Marsden Moor area.

Fire fighters are reported to already be on the scene.

The Peak District Moorland Group said on Facebook: “We have received reports of yet another wildfire incident on Marsden Moor NT.

“With good weather forecasted for a while yet, we sadly could see more habitat and wildlife destruction.”

MancTraffic said on Twitter: “Another large fire reported to us on Marsden Moor with the smoke plume seen from the Manchester side.

“Fire Service are on scene. Awaiting news of any major road closures likely to affect journeys across the tops.”

This is a developing story. Updates to follow.
