The marathon is just around the corner, and we’ve got all the road closures you need to know about.
Whether you’re a participant, heading over to cheer on loved ones or wanting to stay clear of the areas, it’s good to know which areas of Leeds will be affected during the marathon.
Sunday 12 May will see more than 14,000 runners take part in the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon.
The event, organised Leeds City Council and the not-for-profit sporting events company Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All, will see money raised for charitable causes near and far, including the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association and a Leeds Hospitals Charity appeal to build a Rob Burrow Centre for MND.
Leeds City Council has advised everyone to ‘plan ahead’ as there will be plenty of road closures and diversions throughout the day.
Starting and finishing at AMT Headingley Stadium, the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon will begin at 9am followed by the Leeds Half Marathon at 10am.
The 26.2 mile marathon route explores the very best of Leeds, from Headingley to Otley and through lots of Leeds’ suburbs and scenic countryside.
Road closures will begin at 4am around the start/finish line at St Michael’s Lane/Newport View. The closure around St Michael’s Lane is expected to reopen around 6.30pm.
The road closures are as follows:
These times are subject to change and may vary on the day itself and access for emergency service vehicles will be retained throughout the duration of the event.
