The Brewdog bar has been open since 2020 on Otley Road.
The popular bar chain has been closed since February, “amidst the current economic backdrop of increasing costs, including spiralling energy bills”, it has been reported.
Catering to those with a love for craft beer and non-alcoholic drinks alike, this was one of the very few places you can feel included in the beer scene, despite not getting drunk- and that’s really hard to find if you don’t drink.
Brewdog Headingley was also popular with locals for games nights, and all-you-can-eat wings Wednesdays, offering a range of cauliflower, Seitan or chicken wings, board games and a huge range of draught pints- as well as food from Red True’s Barbecue.
Reports suggest that the bar has been closed since February (Google Maps confirms this was reported by the owners a week ago) with a statement released shortly after explaining the reasons why the Otley Road bar has shut its doors for the final time.
This also came with the announcement that all staff have been offered positions around the city, so there’s overall no job losses.
A spokesperson for Brewdog told Leeds Live that: “Unfortunately, our partner in Headingley has had to take the difficult decision to close the Headingley bar amidst the current economic backdrop of increasing costs, including spiralling energy bills.
“All staff have been offered roles in other venues in the city operated by our partner. There will be no job losses”.
Whilst Headingley has recently seen a number of new openings, like brunch spot Residence on North Lane and much-loved pizzeria Rudy’s is welcoming customers from Monday 13 March, but the absence of the Brewdog bar is sure to be missed amongst locals.
