Congratulations are in order… because Leeds has been shortlisted for the prestigious ‘City of the Year Award’.
We can’t say we’re surprised, because Leeds really is the best city in the world (obviously).
No but seriously, the spotlight is well and truly on us right now because it’s been announced that Leeds has grabbed a spot on the shortlist for a coveted prize at Estates Gazette‘s annual awards.
The property publication’s annual awards ceremony, the EG Awards, is now its 20th year and is all about recognising the “very best things about the real estate sector”.

Leeds has been shortlisted for the ‘City of the Year’ award at the prestigious awards ceremony – which is taking place down in London later this November – which seeks to champion the UK’s cities and celebrate the work they are doing to make them liveable and successful places.
Posting to social media, Leeds City Council said: “We’re delighted to share that Leeds has been nominated for City of the Year at the 2024 EG Awards.
“This nomination celebrates the work being done to create liveable and successful places, and we are very proud to see the incredible work of #TeamLeeds being recognised.”
The other two cities nominated are our fellow Northern neighbours Salford and Sheffield.
So, will Leeds take the title? Leeds’ fate will be announced at the EG Awards 2024 in London on Thursday 21 November, so keep your eyes peeled.
