Iconic singer-songwriter, Richard Ashcroft has announced a major headline show in Leeds this summer.

The outdoor summer show will be hosted by Leeds Millennium Square on Saturday 16 July, following the release of the artist’s latest album, Acoustic Hymns Vol.1.

Whilst Ashcroft’s career was heavily influenced by his journey with The Verve, today the artist is brings a modern interpretation of the band’s classic anthems.

Acoustic Hymns Vol.1, which charted in the UK at number two holds similar beats to that of The Verve’s repertoire. Think Urban Hymns (the UK’s 18th biggest selling album of all time) with influences from the likes of Liam Gallagher.

Ashcroft is expected to produce an incredible setlist featuring fan favourites from all ages with everything from his current single, C’mon People We’re Making It Now (featuring Liam Gallagher) to staples from his days with The Verve like The Drugs Don’t Work, Bittersweet Symphony, Lucky Man and Sonnet.

As a two-time Ivor Novello winner, Richard Ashcroft is no stranger to award-winning performances, but this outdoor summer set in Leeds is sure to mark one of the artist’s first concerts post-pandemic, and is sure to be filled with all the singing and dancing we’ve missed out on in the past few years.

Millennium Square only hosts up to 5,700 seats, so this gig will be incredibly intimate compared to the rest of the bestselling artist’s tour stops like CarFest North and Highest Point Festival, so it’s well worth grabbing a ticket in your home town if you can.
