Luckily in their recent roundup of great UK beaches, one from Yorkshire firmly features on the list.
You can find Runswick Bay just five miles North of popular tourist destination Whitby.
The quaint, quiet village is hidden behind the peak of a hill and truly looks like something from the front of a postcard.
Featuring a round coastline dotted with picture-perfect holiday cottages, all with close access to a sandy white beach for you to build your masterpiece of a sandcastle.
The most idyllic spot to kick back and relax, or if you’re looking to be more active then there’s plenty of water sports to enjoy as well as nearby caves to explore (if you’re brave enough).
With a great selection of local pubs to grab a pint or two alongside some cosy pub grub after a walk, a trip to this beautiful beach will reset your busy mind in no time at all.
Just under a two hour drive away from Leeds city centre, this seems like the perfect spot for a relaxed staycation where you won’t find bustling crowds being swarmed by hungry seagulls.
