We’ve also had more ghost sightings than anywhere else, with an impressive 786 made over the years according to the Paranormal Database.

There are loads of spooky sightings that can be found on the database, with some occurrences even dating back to the 1800s which were seen by numerous people who each made their own account.

The historical city of York has unsurprisingly ranked as one of the most haunted places in the county, with paranormal sightings in areas such as The Shambles, Mickelgate and a number of old pubs and old private residences.

Other areas of Yorkshire with high paranormal sightings include the gothic seaside town of Whitby, Sheffield and Scarborough.

Coming in second as the most haunted place in the country is Greater London, Slotbox revealed that 684 paranormal activities were logged over the past few years. Third place goes to Lancashire and in fourth is Essex.

A spokesperson from Slotbox.com has said, “The UK has a lot of spooky history, and with Halloween on the way, it’s incredible to see how many paranormal sightings have been reported.

“As Yorkshire takes the top spot for the location with the most sightings, it’s fascinating to find that Gwent in Southeast Wales has the highest chances of seeing this spooky activity with your own eyes.”
