Just moments away from Leeds, this Yorkshire spa town has been crowned the UK’s best staycation to drive to.
If you’re looking for a cheeky get away where you don’t have to go too far, then look no further than the quaint spa town of Harrogate.
From fantastic bars and eateries to sprawling green spaces, it’s a fantastic place to visit for a day or two.
And don’t just take our word for it, because a new study carried out by AA experts reveals Harrogate to be the best staycation in the UK to drive to.
Harrogate outshone other popular destinations such as Stratford-upon-Avon and Anglesey to grasp the number one position.
The study considered various factors including accommodation options, local contentment scores, availability of parking, petrol stations, and electric vehicle charging points to compile the “ultimate top 10 locations for the perfect staycation”.
Of course Harrogate came up trumps, boasting the highest rating of 7.8 out of 10, along with the highest number of activities.
Stratford-upon-Avon secured the second spot with a rating of 7.6, followed by Newquay in Cornwall securing the third spot.
Just a forty minute drive from Leeds, there really is so much to do in the wonderful town of Harrogate.
Start off your day with breakfast at Betty’s Cafe and Tea Rooms before taking a stroll down the stray and taking in the beautiful views of the cherry blossom trees, then stop for lunch at Pranzo and browse the high street that is jam packed with fantastic independent shops.
