St Patrick’s Day observes the death of St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. The holiday has evolved into a joyous celebration of Irish Culture, taking place on the 17 March each year. Think Guinness, leprechauns and an abundance of green attire.

It’s the 25th year of St Patrick’s Day Parade celebrations in Leeds City Centre.
And as a city we sure know. how to celebrate.
This year, the beloved St Patrick’s Day parade will take place on Sunday 17 March 2024, but throughout the day there will also be rides, refreshments and plenty of Irish dancing and music over at Millennium Square.
This Australian themed sports bar know how to host a proper party and this St Paddy’s day is no exception. Grab yourself a double Jameson, ginger and lime for just £6 or a Jameson’s barrel back shot for just £3.50 when you buy a pint of Guinness. There’ll be live music on all night so make sure to practice your Irish jig in anticipation!
Of course it only feels right to celebrate St Patrick’s Day at an Irish bar, right? And O’Neills on Boar Lane definitely know how to throw a good party. We’re talking a whole host of exclusive drink offers, Irish music and loads of live sport.

This cosy pub in Meanwood are really bringing the craic this St Patrick’s Day. On Thursday they are hosting an Irish Rock & Roll Bingo, on Friday a Westlife and Boyzone tribute night and over the weekend even more live music from Irish bands.

A 1970s-inspired cocktail bar is coming to Leeds this month from the team behind some of the city’s best bars
We've been waiting a while for this one - and it's finally here.
If you know a thing or two about cocktails, or just drinks in general, then you're going to be just as excited as us.
The very talented team behind Roland's and The Domino Club, just to name a few, are setting their sites on a brand-new venture.
Introducing Paper Plane, an intimate new cocktail bar that will be taking over the old Casa site in the city's beautiful Grand Arcade.
Paper Plane will be inspired by the glamour of 1970s air travel and will be a vinyl-only listening bar, serving a world-inspired cocktail menu alongside a carefully curated whisky collection.
The space will be lovely and intimate, with around just 40 covers, designed to transport guests somewhere completely different from the minute they step foot through the door.
And what a location too, joining a whole host of fantastic independents in the arcade such as Alfonso's Deli, Stuzzi and Sonder.
Not only has Roland's been consistently one of the busiest bars on Call Lane since they opened back in 2014, but The Domino Club was recently crowned one of the best cocktail bars in the world. Now that is some accolade worth shouting about.
Paper Plane was announced all the way back in July, and just this week they have announced their official opening date.
Paper Plane will be opening its doors on Thursday 29 October, and we can't wait to welcome them to the city. We'll definitely see you there for a cocktail or two (or three).

Leeds City Council asks public to help shape plans for eastern side of city centre

Leeds City Council is asking people for their views about transport options and public space in the city centre.
Got some thoughts and feelings about how you'd like Leeds city centre to operate? Well now's your time to speak up.
Because people are being invited to give their feedback on current issues and improvements they would like to see around St. Peter’s Street, York Street, Eastgate, Duke Street, Kirkgate, Crown Point Road, Marsh Lane and East Street.
This area of Leeds is vital for those travelling in and out of the city, with many integral and busy bus routes passing through here.
The area is also home to leisure, cultural and educational facilities, as well as Leeds bus station, and has a large and growing residential population, making it a key area for people using the bus, walking, cycling, and travelling by car.
Between 2014 and 2024, there were 260 road related casualties in the area, including 32 serious casualties and three fatalities.
The council and West Yorkshire Combined Authority will use feedback to develop plans for safer ways of travelling for everyone and more welcoming public spaces.
Councillor Tom Hinchcliffe, Leeds City Council’s executive member for transport and planning, said: “This is an important step towards a transport system that prioritises efficient public transport and supports all forms of travelling, making it easier and safer for people to get around the city.
“Public spaces are there to be used and enjoyed by everyone, and it's important that we make these spaces welcoming, accessible and well connected.
"We urge everyone that travels through this area — whether you walk, cycle, drive, or take the bus - to take part in the consultation and share your views. By sharing your experience of travelling in the area, we’ll be able to make the right improvements to make it a safer, more welcoming space for everyone.”
