One of Leeds' best-loved independents is launching a rather novel new social club - a bowling club.
Silver's Deli, famed for its New York-style sub sandwiches, has said that it wants to hold a nice social event that doesn't involve running, saying that run clubs are 'monumentally ridiculous'.
Owner Chris said that the current trend (and run clubs are everywhere right now) for 'glowing at 7am after a 35k sprint all dressed in their best Lycra' is a 'horror show'.
In a hilarious statement shared on Instagram, he said that he hopes his new project will have all the social aspect of a running club, but without the running, which is 'the worst bit'.
"It's like walking, which is fine, but you get all flustered and overly warm, and you probably stink etc."
And the best bit of this new Silver's Bowling Club plan is that it will support the 'f***ing class' Bramley Crown Green Bowling club.
Chris said he hopes this new project will, as well as donating to the club, attract some new members to this 'oasis with all the flowers and nature and sh**'.
The Bramley Crown Green Bowling club is facing rising running costs, increasing membership costs, and a lack of people signing up for memberships.
The plan for this new Silver's Bowling Club will be that winners will be given vouchers, with deck chairs placed out for people to 'just hang out'.

There'll be coffees from Bramley Batch and cookies from Get Baked, with plans to add Silver's breakfast sandwiches to the menu if the first club meet is a success.
No experience necessary - 'just throw some bowls on the ground and see what happens'.
Chris then wants to run the Silver's Bowling Club meets at least monthly all summer, weather permitting.
His statement, in which he directly apologised to Green Room, said: "I had this idea when staring out onto Bramley Park from my back door, watching the park run on a cold February morning — "these people are f*king lunatics", I thought.
"I wondered how they had the energy (or desire) to do such a monumentally ridiculous thing on a Saturday morning. Then I started thinking about running clubs.
"I'm always seeing these places posting their running clubs - everyone glowing at 7am after a 35k sprint all dressed in their best Lycra. Honestly, it's a horror show.
"So anyway I was looking at the Bowling Green, fuming, raging even, and then it came to me.
"Why don't I start a bowling club? We can have the social aspect of a running club, without the running. The running is the worst bit. It's like walking, which is fine, but you get all flustered and overly warm, and you probably stink etc."
The first ever Silver's Bowling Club will be at Bramley Crown Green Bowling on Sunday 6 July, from 10am to 12pm.
One of Leeds' most loved late-night bars has announced it will be moving on from its current location after more than a decade.
Known for its eclectic party atmosphere, fabulous cocktails and fun DJs, Wax has long been a go-to spot for Leeds night owls looking for a big night.
The New Briggate bar has built up a loyal following over the years, becoming something of an institution on the city’s nightlife scene.
And now, Wax has announced that it will be moving location, bringing an end to an era at its current home at the top of town.

Taking to Instagram, Wax shared the news with its loyal customers, stating: “Wax is moving!!!
"Thats right folks, our time on New Briggate is coming to an end. For 15 years many a drink we have drunk, many a dance we have shared, many a hangover we have nursed.... so let’s keep that going in our new home.
"Don't worry you can get your OG Wax fix for the next few months. More info announced soon. See you around. X"
Of course, in classic Leeds fashion, customers flocked to the comments to express their support.
One person said: "So many memories, will forever have a very special place in my heart" whilst another expressed that "Change is good! Long live Wax Bar."
We'll keep you updated with where Wax is moving to as and when we find out, but we're sure its loyal fans will follow them wherever they go.
For now, it’s business as usual at New Briggate - so if you’ve got memories to make (or simply want one last night in the OG Wax), you’ve still got a few months to do so.
Someone has organised a 5k run around Leeds Festival this weekend

It might not be the first thing that you imagine taking part in when you're at a festival - but there will be a 5k run taking place at Leeds Festival.
Ticket-holders will be invited to put down their warm can of breakfast cider and instead lace up their trainers for an easy 5km jog around the festival site.
The Leeds Festival 5k is being organised by Lee Mutemi, who proposed an on-site run on TikTok and got a surprisingly strong response.
Runners will meet outside the main arena entrance on Saturday morning (so don't party too hard at Chase & Status Live the night before).
The meeting point is slap bang in the middle of the two main camping areas.
The meet-up will start at 9.30am, with the intention to start the run at 10am.
"I'm very surprised how many people are actually tapped in," Lee said. "I genuinely thought it would be like one or two people."
He'll also be giving away some t-shirts from his brand PRSPEKTV on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Lee said in a video on TikTok that just a few short years ago he was working as a bartender at Reading Festival - and now he's attending the huge music weekend as a content creator instead.
He said: "This is to show that Leeds Festival is that festival."
