A magical David Hockney-inspired drone display is lighting up the Bradford sky this Friday
This is going to be incredible.
A spectacular drone display inspired by the work of David Hockney is coming to his hometown.
The show will feature over 600 illuminated drones and will take place this Friday 14 November at Robert's Park.
The park is just a short walk away from where many of Hockney's original pieces are housed at the wonderful Salts Mill in Saltaire.
The display is aimed to celebrate his life's work and will recreate some of the artist's most famous works.
The event is titled 'Painting The Sky', is completely free to attend and forms part of Bradford's UK City of Culture Celebration's.
The aerial display will start ay 5:30pm and will last approximately ten minutes, so people are advised to get there with plenty of time.
SKYMAGIC, the company behind the display, has worked on previous projects for Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee and the coronation of King Charles III no less.
Here's what the website says about the event: "As darkness falls over Bradford, you’ll see extraordinary drone recreations of artworks from across Hockney’s career – from his vibrant Californian pool paintings to his more recent Yorkshire landscapes created on iPads.
"All of these classic works will be portrayed in light, flying high over Saltaire in a dynamic tribute to one of our district’s favourite sons. Don’t miss it.
"Painting the Sky will take place in the open air, so please dress appropriately for the weather."
