Opera North to serve up Christmas delights for all of December

Providing music of all kinds to a number of fabulous performances.

Opera North is preparing a feast for all the senses this festive season with an incredible setlist of performances and fantastic food.

There’s simply nothing better than taking a trip to the theatre during the Christmas period.

Opera North are providing music of all kinds to a number of fabulous performances across the North, as well as celebrating the first Christmas of its new restaurant, Kino, at its central Leeds home.

The company’s widely acclaimed Orchestra is at the heart of the celebrations, performing a festive double bill for all the family with The Nutcracker at the Leeds Grand Theatre and a live score for Raymond Briggs’ classic animation The Snowman, at Huddersfield Town Hal and St George’s Hall, Bradford.

Opera North’s jam packed December schedule also includes the much-loved Christmas Gala with the Company’s Chorus at Dewsbury Town Hall; Handel’s Messiah with Huddersfield Choral Society; and New Year Viennese Whirls in Huddersfield and Hull.

The talented young musicians of Opera North’s Winter Orchestra Academy follow three intensive days’ rehearsals with a festive concert outside Leeds’ John Lewis store, and Opera North’s Children’s Chorus, Young Voices and Youth Chorus perform their Christmas concert at Clothworkers Centenary Concert Hall. 

And of course you’ll need a delicious bite to eat before or after your theatre trip, so why not head to Opera North’s new briggate restaurant Kino who have just announced a brand new winter menu from residents MorMor.

Seasonal delights include slow-cooked rabbit, maple roasted cauliflower, and seared scallops. After New Year’s Eve plans? Then don’t worry as Kino have got you covered.

Celebrate with live music from jazz singer Susie Chambers, and a complimentary glass of fizz for all diners.
