Ruth Jones, Ian McMillan, Gyles Brandreth, Gabby Logan and Melvyn Bragg are amongst the star studded line-up at this year's festival.
The Ilkley Literature Festival hosts an array of leading literary geniuses each year and this year's exciting programme hints towards another show stopping celebration of the arts.
The festival aims to celebrate all things reading and writing, with over 90 events exploring fiction, non-fiction and poetry, with authors from politicians to actors, academics to mountaineers, and journalists to chefs.
This Autumn the festival will be taking place between 7 - 23 October 2022 and after taking a look at the headline acts, it is not one to be missed.

Kicking off the festival is beloved Yorkshire poet Ian McMillan, who will be sharing stories about one of his great loves – the sea – and the places and memories that have shaped the grand old dad he is today.
Actor, co-creator of Gavin & Stacey and author, Ruth Jones, will be discussing her uplifting new novel Love Untold, on Saturday 8 October and Ardal O’Hanlon, star of iconic TV comedy series, Father Ted, will discuss his darkly comic novel and satire on Ireland’s politics, Brouhaha, on Saturday 15 October.
Leeds-born presenter Gabby Logan will explore her candid memoir that details her brother’s early death, her father’s alcoholism, and navigating sexism at work.
Other appearances include broadcaster Melvyn Bragg and festival favourite Gyles Brandreth. The full programme for the festival can be found here on the festival's website.
The festival includes in-person talks, digital events and workshops hosted at numerous venues around Ilkley including All Saints’ Church, Ilkley Grammar School, Ilkley Playhouse and the King’s Hall.

We couldn't reel off notable record shops in Sheffield without mentioning this staple institution, which has been serving the music lovers of this South Yorkshire city since 1978.
Just like our very own music counterpart Audio North, the owner of Record Collector, Barry, spotlights up-and-coming talent, giving them pride of place in his shop displays.
If you're ever planning a day trip to Sheffield, you'll probably need to book a weekend, as this shop in itself will have you transfixed with its huge range of musical releases.

Waxhead Records

Inside Arundel Emporium is this beauty of a record shop, which formerly went by the name Music Junkie, before re-establishing itself as Waxhead Records.
No matter what name this shop goes by, one thing will always stay the same, and that's this record shop's dedication to proper good vinyl.
Check out those phenomenal albums on display by the likes of music greats: Ms Lauryn Hill, Amy Winehouse, Joni Mitchell - obviously Arctic Monkeys are up there too.

Known for being Sheffield's largest second-hand bookshop, this place prides itself on its love for physical media.

Situated at Shalesmoor and close to Kelham Island, get ready to step back in time and browse plenty of vintage and preloved items that are waiting to spark interest and joy with the next person who picks them up.
Just a stone's throw away from Sheffield city centre is Tallbird Records, which we simply couldn't leave out, as they're top class.
They're Chesterfield's longest-running independent record shop, stocking all things music for over a decade, opening back in 2013.
Like all of the record shops mentioned above, this vinyl vendor prides itself on having a friendly team and a vast selection of LPs - they've even got K-Pop Demon Hunters.

Harewood House

Nestled amidst the Yorkshire countryside, Harewood House offers a perfect blend of history and natural beauty. Explore the estate's extensive grounds, which include woodland trails, beautifully maintained gardens, and a scenic lake.
If you have children, there is an adventure playground they can get lost in, while you can marvel at the stunning architecture of the house itself. There’s a gorgeous 10km walk that loops around the estate offering beautiful views throughout. You can end your walk at one of the cafe’s conveniently located near the car park.
Golden Acre Park

Situated just a short drive from Leeds city centre, Golden Acre Park is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. Grab an ice cream and take a leisurely stroll around the park's tranquil lake.
Burrowed in the park is a bird spotting hut where you can spot wildlife, from ducks and swans to squirrels and rabbits, making it an ideal destination for families.
Otley Chevin

For panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, head to Otley Chevin. With a variety of walking trails ranging from gentle slopes to more challenging hikes, there's something for every ability.
Reach the Chevin summit and be rewarded with breathtaking views stretching as far as the eye can see. It doesn’t just offer walks, but it is steeped in history, homing fossils and sculptures and is a natural playground for your little ones.
Tip: Head to the car park on York Gate road for the best sunset views!
Ilkley Moor
Lace up your hiking boots and venture onto Ilkley Moor, a rugged carpet of heather-covered moorland. Whether it’s a long walk you’re after, or you just want to explore the famous Cow and Calf rocks, which offer exceptional views of the landscape below, make sure you treat yourself to something sweet or refreshing from The Cow and Calf overlooking the valley.
Be prepared, as you might need to familiarise yourself with the well-known Cow and Calf song before your visit!
Roundhay Park

As one of the largest urban parks in Europe, Roundhay Park offers endless opportunities for outdoor adventure. Wander through scenic gardens, or rent a boat to paddle around the tranquil lake. With playgrounds, cafes, and even a tropical world, there's no shortage of activities to keep the whole family entertained.
Kirkstall Abbey
Step back in time and explore the historically-rich ruins of Kirkstall Abbey. Wander through the abbey and its courtyards before strolling towards the adjacent parkland which provides a peaceful getaway from the vibrant life of Headingley.
Bolton Abbey
Just a short drive from Leeds, Bolton Abbey offers a charming setting for a Bank Holiday walk. Take a walk through its trails along the banks of the River Wharfe, go back in time whilst visiting the abbey itself, and pass through the ancient woodlands walked by the monks themselves! A must-do whilst there is to visit the famous stepping stones whilst enjoying a picnic by the riverbank.
