Council launch online ‘warm spaces’ map to help residents in Leeds

All the locations offering support during the winter months.

An online map showing the locations of ‘warm spaces’ in Leeds to help people with the cost of living crisis has gone live.

The map highlights locations across Leeds that residents can go to in order to find support during the winter months.

Those looking to reduce their home energy costs can visit these venues to keep warm, engage in activities provided and access services including free advice and guidance.

The map initially shows the venues managed by the Leeds City Council, including community hubs and libraries. Those visiting will receive the warmest of welcomes, including free hot refreshments, activities for children and families, and services of free access to books, computers and WiFi.

Further support and free financial guidance is also available in all council-managed community hubs on housing, council tax and benefits.

The council is also working closely with numerous partners, including third sector and faith groups, with the aim of adding additional venues to the list.

The map can be accessed via the Warm Spaces Public App and if any organisations in the city wish to offer further locations, they can do so by completing the online form here.

Leeds City Council executive member for communities Councillor Mary Harland said: “We are very pleased to have the online map now live, showing the locations where people can go to keep warm, access services and get free guidance and advice to save money and keep their costs down this winter.

“As a council we are keen to work with any group or organisation who wishes to help offering additional locations across the city so we can all help each other and especially our most vulnerable residents to keep safe and well in the challenging months to come.”
