After nearly a decade of blessing Kirkgate with their ‘little piece of Yorkshire’, Wapentake Leeds has announced they will be closing for good.
If you’re a local and can’t resist a good old Yorkshire pudding, then there’s no doubt that you’ve popped into Wapentake over the years.
Famed for their iconic Yorkshire pudding burgers and stunning Sunday roasts, this little oasis was known for its friendly service and fantastic homemade food.
Serving brunch by day and craft beer and cocktails by night, it was a go to for many and it’s safe to say Wapentake will be truly missed.
Announcing the news to Instagram, Wapentake said: “Leeds Leeds Leeds, it is with an extremely heavy heart that we are announcing the closure of our beloved Little Piece of Yorkshire.
“With the current climate and the building works currently taking place on Kirkgate our business has suffered a great deal and fallen on hard times. Safe to say we’re f*cking devastated.”
We really couldn’t agree with the last sentence more and we’re absolutely gutted.

The post continued: “We’ll be having a farewell bash pretty much all weekend for those that would like to come and say goodbye and celebrate Wapentake with us. It proper is an end of an era for us.
“Support your local (or just any) independent gaff whenever you can. It really does go a long way. We’ll be operating as usual throughout this week for your coffee and brunch/ burger needs. We chuffin love you Leeds.”
You can still go and give them the send off they deserve this week, as the last day of service will be this Sunday 23 June.
So raise a glass, or a jug of gravy, to this lovely spot that will be so missed in the city.
