There's few stores in Sheffield that have been open longer than these guys.
There's good reason that Woody's has become a firm favourite for locals across the city.
Located on the intersection of Ecclesall Road and Sharrow Vale Road, you'll find Woody's a family-run sandwich shop that's been charming the people of Sheffield and beyond for over a quarter of a century.
Trading for 29 years, with their current head chef at the helm for 24 (who has never, ever had a day off sick), owner 'Woody', is more than happy to pour over the history of this sandwich institution whilst you wait for your order.
He believes that the key to success is the huge selection of hot and cold sandwiches, bagels and baked goods on offer, including over 70 different combinations of peppered beef, salmon, hams and a huge bread selection.
Working your way down the menu here is highly recommended, customers guarantee you'll be back for seconds in glowing online reviews - and with bread cakes stuffed with choices like roast chicken with roasted peppers and pesto; ham with brie or roast beef with melted blue stilton, red onion and a hint of mayo - there's truly something for everyone regardless of your sando preference.

The bagel menu is just as carefully curated, all with NYC-inspired names to pay homage to the mighty bagel's beginnings. Standout options include the Brooklyn - a chicken, pesto and sundried tomatoes, the veggie-friendly Central Park and the Manhattan, smoked salmon, cream cheese, lemon juice and black pepper.
There's a small eat-in area for those wanting to take in the hustle and bustle of lunchtime trading but most get their orders to go - we took ours to Sheffield Botanical Gardens a mere ten minute walk away to bask in the spring sunshine whilst tucking into smoked salmon.
Taking the view in from the road, it's clear that this is the place for Steel City workers to head in for a hearty lunch. Everyone that walks by pops in to say hello and grab a sarnie or sweet treat, and the reviews speak for themselves.

Holding a five star TripAdvisor rating, regulars and newcomers alike are keen to share their praise for the much-loved sandwich store.
"I have been coming here for over 20 years, from hungover rugby player to hungover dad. The choice has increased with time and quality has remained high. Always my first choice in Sheffield."
"Absolute gem of a place - lovely staff, bangin sandwiches and the best brownies I've ever had. Super reasonable prices too. Definitely a new regular!"
"there are very VERY few sandwich shops that have the same elite service and better food!"
"A truly truly wonderful place that has cured the hangovers of countless students and others!"
You can find Woody's on Eccleshall Road (just before it meets Sharrow Vale Road) serving 9am - 4pm (and from 9.45am on Sundays) every single day of the week.

The best restaurants in Yorkshire named at prestigious National Restaurant Awards
Clementine Hall
The best restaurants in the UK have been named at the National Restaurant Awards – and Yorkshire has done pretty well for itself.
The prestigious awards took place last night, listing the top 100 places to eat in the entire UK.
Four restaurants in Yorkshire managed to make it into the top 100 of the country’s best restaurants.
Coming in at a very impressive number 13 is Sheffield restaurant JÖRO, who's year has gone from accolade to accolade after being awarded none other than a Michelin star back in February.
Often hailed as the city's best restaurant, JÖRO is run by husband-and-wife team Luke French and Stacey Sherwood.

They recently relocated into a bigger space near the edge of the Peak District in Oughtibridge, which has allowed them to expand their offerings.
Here's what the judges had to say: 'A much larger and better-equipped kitchen has allowed French - whose CV includes Midsummer House in Cambridge - to evolve his already finely-tuned and distinctive cooking style.'
JÖRO announced the news to Instagram, saying: "To be sat in a room filled with incredible people from across the industry is truly inspiring and being listed is something our younger selves only dreamed of achieving."
Over in Leeds, beloved neighbourhood bistro Bavette placed at number 83 where owners Sandy and Clement stated they were "Over the moon" to have made it onto the list.
Elsewhere in Yorkshire, The Angel at Hetton came in at number 47 being declared as a 'Yorkshire institution' whilst The Star Inn at Harome took number 78 as one of the first pubs in England to be awarded a Michelin star.
