A new pizza slinger is popping up at Leeds' favourite donut shop this month with the latest foodie craze to hit the UK: Detroit pizza.
This soft, deep-dish focaccia dough is currently taking the country by storm. Fermented for 48 hours then drizzled in oil and loaded with toppings, every slice also boasts a caramelised, crunchy cheese 'frico' crown - making it that bit more indulgent than your average slice.
Well Oiled, currently operating out of a cloud kitchen in the city, is fast becoming the home of Detriot pizza in Leeds - serving up full pies of the stuff priced from just £12.95.
The first Detroit pizza pop-up at Doh Hut took place last weekend, with mouthwatering slabs of brick cheese pizza flying out of the kitchen and into hungry mouths. But don't worry if you missed out, there are still two weekends to come.

Choices on offer here include the 'Full spec', made with house-made Well Oiled sauce, Trealy farm fennel salami, house cheese mix, whipped ricotta, hot pepper mash, fresh oregano and hot honey, and the 'Detroit red top' - made with the house sauce and cheese mix, fresh basil, pecorino romano and basil EVO oil.
There's also the 'Turbo peppers', with house sauce and cheese mix, wood fired peppers and basil, ember cooked sweet onions, turbo chimichurri, chipotle-spiced maple. It can also be made vegan using a plant-based cheese mix.
There's also a selection of garlic donut breads on offer here, too - from standard to vegan to fancy.
The 48-hour fermented dough is cooked light and fluffy and doused in garlic butter, flat-leaf parsley and Maldon sea salt. These can be ordered vegan, or you can pimp them up with a Puglian burratini made from mozzarella and cream.
Well Oiled plans on opening its own restaurant space in Leeds, and although it seems the pandemic may have set plans back somewhat a unit is still on the cards in the future.
For now, you can find them popping up at Doh Hut in Trevelyan Square this month on the 19 and 26 of June from 6pm. To guarantee a slot, make sure to pre-order in advance via DM.
