The bar has ‘handed on the baton’ to new owners.
Since opening in 2016, Thewlis Cocktail Lounge has been a popular watering hole for those seeking a shaken cocktail, charcuterie board or bottomless brunch right in the heart of the city centre.
But the owners have announced that Thewlis has now closed for good, and a new bar will take over the space.
Having owned both Thewlis and The Decanter next door, the owners have consolidated everything into the one bar and will continue to serve the signature Thewlis cocktails inside The Decanter.
Thewlis announced the news on Instagram last night…
“We have some big news to share with you, we have served our last cocktail at Thewlis Cocktail Lounge and handed on the baton to a bar which is new to Leeds.
“We want to thank every single customer who has walked through the doors since we opened in 2016. As a small, independent business you have no idea what it means to us that you decided to visit us, we’ve shared some incredible memories with a lot of you.
Thank you also to our amazing team, past and present. You guys are like family and as you know we couldn’t do any of it without you, you are all legends.
“It isn’t all goodbyes though, as we still have The Decanter (next door to Thewlis) and The Decanter isn’t going anywhere- so we still have many more drinks to share together. We even sell the same legendary cocktails we made in Thewlis, so the menu lives on! Including our much-loved 2 for £15 menu which we will be offering during selected times in The Decanter.
“Everyone that has a booking with Thewlis has been contacted (please check your inboxes), but if you have any questions please drop us an email to hello@thedecanter.co.uk
“Thanks again for the memories, you’ve been a joy as always Leeds!
Hopefully we will see you all soon at The Decanter.
“Much love and thanks, Alex and Allison x
