Okay sorry, that was a very bad joke but it doesn’t take away from the fact that our very own Yorkshire spot has been named one of the very best in the UK.
Just in time for the summer holidays, website Holiday Cars did some very important research discovering the best coastal spots in the UK for you to take your bucket and spade to.
Taking into account attractions such as museums and arcades to the number of restaurants and ice cream parlours to decipher which seaside is tip top.
Coming in at a very respectable fourth place is Robin Hood’s Bay, situated in North Yorkshire this absolute gem dotted with red-roofed cottages looks straight out of a postcard.
Just a few miles away from Whitby, here you’ll find a plethora of fantastic pubs, a free museum and plenty of brilliant fish and chip shops to keep you going through the day.
Another Yorkshire spot mentioned on the list is Staithes coming in 16th place, located further up the coast this fishing village is filled with cobbled streets and 18th-century cottages transporting you straight to a fairytale.
Beating out both Yorkshire spots to the top spots were New Quay, Ceredigion, Wales in first; North Berwick, East Lothian, Scotland in second; and Looe, Cornwall in third.
