Two fan-favourite food brands have decided to collaborate to create a new sweet treat that promises to be "the best of both products".
Introducing the ‘Jaffanut’. Just as the name suggests, the new sweet treat combines both popular products and comes complete with Krispy Kreme’s signature soft dough and the legendary zesty orange-flavoured filling that Jaffa Cake fans all know and love, reports The Manc.
Snack food company McVitie’s and doughnut creators Krispy Kreme are two brands that each have legions of passionate fans eager to see what new creations they come up with next – but now, they two titans have come together for what some are already calling “the collaboration of the decade” for the ultimate confectionary hybrid.
Although there is no official launch date for the ‘Jaffanut’ as of yet, the new chocolate orange treat was teased by Krispy Kreme UK across its social media platforms yesterday, with the cryptic caption “SOON”.
The creation of the ‘Jaffanut’ comes after Krispy Kreme UK – which is known for its limited-edition collaborations – put a tweet out last week to ask doughnut fans which brand it should join forces with next, and Jaffa Cakes responded: “Can we tag ourselves?”
“Depends… are we making a cake or doughnut?,” Krispy Kreme questioned.
Jaffa Cakes then replied: “You making a cake is like us making a biscuit. Spitballing names here, but what do you think of Jaffa Kreme? Krispy-Jaffa? Or maybe… Jaffanut?”
The new sweet treat collaboration also comes after McVitie’s last year launched the Jaffa Cakes and doughnut ‘fusion’ called Jonuts – a doughnut-shaped ring of sponge with the staple orange-flavoured filling and a dark chocolate coating.
“We’re really excited to announce the partnership between Krispy Kreme and McVitie’s Jaffa Cakes – bringing together the two taste sensations for the first time and offering another fun twist for ‘Jaffanatics’ to enjoy,” said McVitie’s Jaffa Cakes Brand Manager, Alice Jamieson.
“McVitie’s Jaffa Cakes are a much-loved product in the UK and Ireland,” added Louise Direito – Director of Innovation at Krispy Kreme UK.
“We’re excited to announce this partnership and bring consumers two iconic flavours in one product.
“We’ve had a lot of fun perfecting the Jaffanut and can’t wait for our customers to experience the same joy when they try it for themselves.”
Leeds restaurant The Cut & Craft has announced further expansion plans for the spring.
Swanky all-day dining restaurant and bar, The Cut & Craft, is expanding its popular Leeds site, investing a whopping £1.2 million to create a new adjoining elegant bar, lounge and private spaces.
Located within the former historic Collinson’s Cafe, the renovation will transform the former neighbouring Paul Smith store, to extend the existing brand offering.
The extension will celebrate the original beauty of the space, whilst acknowledging the legacy of Wallace Hartley - a talented musician who played at Collinson’s Cafe in the early 1900s before his role as bandleader on Titanic during its maiden voyage.

The Grade II-listed building’s features including its iconic glass dome, stained glass and circular central bar will remain, with the addition of two beautifully designed private dining rooms.
The extension is due for competition this spring and will transform the existing venue into a space with seating for an impressive 370 covers.
Oscar Akgul, CEO at The Cut & Craft said: “Planning for this new chapter began within the first year of opening. By year two, it was clear that we required additional space to serve the city’s appetite for The Cut & Craft’s signature hospitality.

“The brand’s deep affinity with the Victoria Quarter and the heritage of the building played an essential role in the decision to grow here.
“We want to thank our regular guests and everyone who has joined us at The Cut & Craft Leeds since opening and we look forward to entering this exciting new chapter with you all.”
