Pigs in blankets are a festive staple, so why wait until the big day to tuck into them?
Subway launched their Christmas menu early on in the festive period, but it is now been reported that a Vegan Pigs in Blankets sub will be hitting the West Midland stores of the sandwich franchise soon.
The sandwich, aptly named ‘Plants in Blankets’, will be made up of smoky ‘bacon-like’ strips, plant-based sausages and served with Heinz tomato ketchup and Subway’s usual selection of salad and sauces.
This comes after Subway’s efforts to include an increasing number of vegan dishes to their menu. The Plants in Blankets sandwich will sit alongside the meatless marinara sub, T.L.C. (Tastes Like Chicken), cookies and many other vegan-friendly dishes now on the menu.
Unfortunately for vegans in Leeds, this limited edition sub will only be available in Birmingham, Coventry and Wolverhampton at present.
For meat-eaters, the ‘Tiger Pig’ is the original pigs in blankets sandwich you need to being your Christmas countdown. Tuck into giant pork sausages wrapped in streaky maple-cured bacon and topped with all the trimmings you desire.
All your festive flavours are served between two layers of crunchy tiger bread for the ultimate crowd-pleasing sandwich.
Brie is also on the menu at Subway this Christmas. For the ultimate festive flavour, the national chain recommend pairing melted brie with their Sweet Onion sauce and your choice of salad.
There’s also a Turkey SubStack that is made up of your Christmas breakfast and dinner in one.
Think layers of turkey breast and crispy hash browns between your choice of bread, sauce and salad.
To get your hands on a festive subway: meat eaters and vegetarians can have their pick from the many stores across Leeds, but vegans wanting to try the Plants in Blankets will have to travel further afield.
