Bus company launches £1 York to Leeds return ticket

Express bus service Cityzap is launching a new £1 fare

You can now travel from Leeds to York and back for the princely sum of £1.

If you fancy a day out in York, everything just got a whole lot more affordable thanks to a new bus route that’s charging customers just £1 for a return trip to the city.

Express bus service Cityzap, which runs between York and Leeds, is launching a new Wednesday day return fare traveling between the two cities for just a quid.

If you’re on a late one and miss your last Cityzap bus, the tickets can also be used to travel home on Coastline buses.

The deal has been created to encourage people to get out and explore their neighbouring cities again, with the bus company even launching an app so that you can check how busy the service is before travelling.

Paul Turner, commercial director of parent company Transdev, said: “This amazing £1 Wednesday day return deal on our Cityzap ‘Sky Class’ buses is our way to encourage people to safely rediscover the attractions on our doorstep this summer – such as the great shopping, leisure attractions, museums and galleries in Leeds, or the Minster, Jorvik Viking Centre, Castle Museum and Chocolate Story plus many more in York.

“Wednesday is traditionally one of our quieter days of the week, and so we have plenty of space on our luxury double deck buses for everyone to relax and enjoy the journey.

“Customers can use our Transdev Go mobile app to see how much space there is on board their bus before travelling – and we’ll keep a close eye on how many people are travelling, and provide additional capacity where needed.”

Transdev invested £1.4 million in a fleet of five ‘Sky Class’ buses for the Cityzap service in November 2020. All of these buses have wireless and USB charging points as well as fast, free wifi to help make the 45-minute journey fly by.
