The historic Craigland hotel in Leeds has unveiled a swanky new look, following a huge £2.2 million makeover.
Having been closed for some time now, the hotel is finally ready to reopen its doors and show off its new luxury new spa and ballroom.
Frst built in 1859, The Craiglands was a popular destination during the hydrotherapy movement when people believed that waters from the stream had healing properties.
Back then, it offered its visitors mustard pads, massage, baths and “tonic air” from the moors – so it seems natural that it’s now returned to its roots as a spa destination.
The hotel’s new Vebela spa and fitness facility is housed in a previously unused space beneath the historic building, but there is still plenty of light with large windows in the gym overlooking the gardens.
It boasts a range of top aromatherapy treatments, a new hydro pool said to reduce joint pain and anxiety and a bespoke mud Rasul chamber – a traditional Egyptian treatment said to improve the complexion, relieve rheumatic discomfort and remove toxins by encouraging blood flow.
On top of all this, it also houses five Decleor treatment rooms, a sauna and steam room and a new 25-piece gym.
The large investment has also paid for the refurbishment of Craiglands 700-capacity ballroom, which now features three new chandeliers, a new carpet, and a full restoration of the original sprung wooden dancefloor.
It’s hoped that the refurbishment will make the hotel an attractive choice for weddings, events and conference going forward and the management has plans to appoint a full new team here including a new wedding and events co-ordinator and Chef de Partie.
The spa is also open for day and evening visits as well as to overnight guests, with packages starting from £45. It is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
