Our beloved city of Leeds has been featured in a list of the world’s best cities.
Of course we’ve known this for a while, but it’s nice to be recognised isn’t it?
A new study has revealed the top 100 cities in the world, after analysing a whopping 270 and Leeds has come up trumps.
Granted it didn’t take the number one spot, but we’ll still take number 88 won’t we.
Carried out by the global advisor on tourism and economic development of cities and destinations Resonance Consultancy, the ranking takes into account a range of factors to decipher the coveted list.
It uses recommendations from locals and visitors from TripAdvisor, Google, Facebook, and Instagram.
It’s the ninth year for the list, which looks at factors such as livability, social vibrancy and sustainable infrastructure for communities to grow. This methodology is applied to ‘global cities’, meaning cities with metropolitan populations of more than one million.
Leeds was in fact the only Yorkshire city to be placed in the top 100, even beating the historical hub of York.
London was unsurprisingly ranked number one on the list, with Paris in second, New York in third and Tokyo in fourth. Seems like we’re in pretty good company if you ask us.
We grabbed the 88th spot, squeezed in between Bucharest and Muscat.
Highlighted in the article were the iconic Viaduct Showbar, Roundhay Park, our wonderful selection of restaurants and bars as well as our incredible live music scene.
We most definitely don’t need convincing on why our city reigns supreme, but it’s certainly nice to get a little bit of recognition every now and then.
