Something very strange is happening in Leeds right now. The sun has come out, and it’s stayed out. Even stranger, it’s predicted to stay like this all week.
The city is bracing itself for a mini-heatwave. The Met Office is predicting clear blue skies all week, following a few days of gloomy weather in the city.
Temperatures are expected to rise to the mid-20s, and could well be hitting peaks of 27C in and around the city by Sunday.
That’s hotter than Tenerife, where forecasts will peak at a measly 23C this weekend coming.
A turn for the better is very welcome, considering some of the wet and miserable weather seen during May.
Sunny spells are expected to hold throughout the week, with a good deal of fine and dry weather anticipated to last over the coming fortnight.
A spokesperson from the Met Office said: “Temperatures will mostly be warmer than average, perhaps low to mid 20C.
“There continues to be a risk of some cloudier conditions with scattered showers, some of which could be heavy and possibly thundery at times.”
So dig out the shorts, the sun cream and the deck chairs – because who needs a holiday abroad when it’s going to be this nice at home?
