North Brewing, Leeds much-loved brewery and bar group has officially been saved from administration.
It was announced this afternoon that a sale has been made to Steve Holt, Founder and Director of Kirkstall Brewery, to secure the future of North.
Holt is no stranger to the business. North Brewing’s own founders, John Gyngell and Christian Townsley, were part of the pioneering development days of the craft beer market in the UK, along with Steve and as the market developed, both both Kirkstall and North were able to expand their businesses.
North will continue to be an independent brewery operating from their Springwell site and will be run by the existing management team.
The new company will be known as Vertical Drinks Ltd T/A North.
John Gyngell of North said, ‘We are pleased to have found a solution for our team and the legacy of the North brand’ whilst Christian Townsley of North added: ‘this has been an absolutely torrid time for the brewing industry which has faced the fallout from Covid, Cost of living crisis, Inflation, Brexit and utility price increases’.
