Northern’s massive flash sale is making a return today, with the train operator selling tickets for just £1.

There’ll be more than one million tickets up for grabs for journeys across the north of England.

The £1 tickets are sold on a first-come, first-serve basis, for journeys taking place between Tuesday 6 September and Thursday 20 October 2022.

Northern’s flash sale is set to start at 10am today, and the cheap fares are spread across its 2000 daily services to more than 500 stations across the north.

Some peak-time services, and those that are already expected to busy with events taking place, won’t be included.

Mark Powles, customer and commercial director at Northern, said: “This is our way of helping to extend the summer holiday feeling by a further six weeks – getting people through until the start of the October half term.

“Whether it’s for a weekend in the historic city of Chester, a night out in Newcastle; a day at the seaside in Scarborough or a walking holiday in the Lake District – these fares will get you where you want to be for less.

“Tickets are on a first come, first serve basis – so those looking to take advantage of these great £1 fares should book early to avoid disappointment. When they’re gone, they’re gone.”

Tickets go on sale at 10am today and are only available online, either through Northern’s app or at www.northernrailway.co.uk.
