Easter week is upon us and here are our top picks of what to do.
We are well into April now and with Easter kindly gifting us a 4 day weekend, there is lots to do this week to make the most out of the festivities. Of course we will all be indulging in chocolate on Sunday, that goes without saying. But if you're looking for something else to do then here are our top picks of what's happening in and around Leeds.
From Yorkshire's biggest Easter Egg hunt to award-winning theatre, there's something for everyone in this week's What's On.
Chow Down Opening
Temple Arches, Leeds | Opening Thursday 14th April 2022.

The beloved outdoor food and drink bonanza, Chow Down, is back for the Summer and opening on Thursday 14th April.
From April to September, Temple Arches will be transformed into a Summer-themed haven with a new food village, three-tier sun terrace, DJ huts and much more. There will even be a nine-hole alfresco crazy golf course where you can challenge your mates whilst sipping on your favourite cocktail. There will be a host of street food vendors to cater to all tastes which will change every few weeks to keep you coming back for more.
Chow Down will officially reopen on Thursday 14 April, opening 4.30pm – 11 pm on Thursdays and Fridays throughout the season. On the weekends, the venue will open 12pm – 11pm on Saturdays and Sunday 12pm – 9pm. Tickets can be purchased here and we encourage you to not miss out, this is a unique experience which is truly unmatched in Leeds.
Bradford trio Bad Boy Chiller Crew are coming to Leeds and performing at the 02 Academy on the 13th and 14th April. The British group began by uploading comedy and prank videos onto Youtube before producing music influenced by the UK Bassline scene. They quickly rose to fame and have a loyal fanbase, especially in the Yorkshire region.
These gigs are sure to have an electric atmosphere in this intimate venue and are not to be missed. Tickets are running low so if you want to party with the chiller crew, you best me quick. Find them at thislink.
Eggcelent Easter Egg Hunt
Thackray Museum of Medicine, Harehills | Monday 4 April – Friday 22 April 2022.

This Easter, the Thackray Museum of Medicine is hosting a whole range of egg-citing activity programmes to bring the Easter holidays to life. Visitors are invited to explore the museum as part of the ‘Eggcellent Easter Egg Hunt’, in which several eggs will be hidden throughout the exhibitions, and participants asked to complete a trail to get their hands on a mini Easter treat.
Suitable for even young children, there will even be an ‘Egg and Sperm Race’, where players will compete to reach the egg first, and an ‘Absolutely Smashing Matching Hatching Game’, which will put your knowledge of eggs and growth in the animal kingdom to the test. Please note that parental supervision required at these events.

Yorkshire's Biggest Easter Egg Hunt

Provenance Inns and Hotels will be hiding chocolate eggs across the county this month in the lead-up to Easter.The event is thought to bring ‘Yorkshire’s biggest Easter egg hunt’, spanning across Harogate, Moulton, Helperby and other Yorkshire hotspots. Lucky hunters who seek out the eggs will be able to enjoy a free drink at any Provenance site and there will be a host of Easter-themed dishes on the menu for those looking for a little more than a chocolate egg to satisfy their hunger.
Raising money for the Red Cross, Yorkshire’s biggest Easter egg hunt is set to take place across the bank holiday weekend, beginning on Good Friday and running until Easter Sunday. The idea is that clues will be dropped across Provenance Inns social media pages and those successful in finding the eggs can then redeem a free drink from the bar.

The National Theatre’s Olivier and Tony Award-winning production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time returns to Leeds this April for one week only.

Trinity Leeds is transforming Trinity Kitchen into the ultimate space to watch all the World Cup 2026 action together.

Foodie hotspot Trinity Kitchen has been completely transformed into the ultimate fan zone with space for up to 1,000 cheering fans.

There are three super-sized 5x3m screens dotted around the space, so wherever you go you won’t miss out on a goal.

There’s also a brand-new bar courtesy of local favourites Northern Monk named the ‘Northern Monk Trinity Tap’.
The tap will feature two, seven-metre bars with a whopping 20 beer taps to keep you refreshed and hydrated during the tournament, because cheering the lads on really can be thirsty work.
If you don’t fancy a beer there’s also cocktails, wine and soft drinks on offer as well - so nobody has to miss out.

Feeling peckish? Of course there’s 11 street food vendors serving match day meals and snacks to keep you fuelled through the games.
Choose from Caribbean jerk chicken from Jerk Junction, Indian street food from Rolawala and loads more.
Entry is completely free but if you’re after a reserved seat on a table, tickets cost just £10.

“It will be one of the biggest World Cup venues in Leeds with three huge screens showing the games live and more dotted around Trinity Kitchen. There will be live roaming brass bands and DJs turning every England fixture into a true celebration.
“Fans can turn up and grab a space for free and we will also be offering table bookings for England games for those who want to guarantee the best spots to watch the drama unfold.
“Our line-up of street food vendors will serve bold flavours from around the world, while the all-new Northern Monk Trinity Tap will pour award-winning craft beers across 20 taps, making Trinity Kitchen the ultimate place to eat, drink and experience every unforgettable World Cup moment."

Dishoom announces official opening date for new Leeds restaurant

It's the moment we've all been waiting for, Dishoom is coming to Leeds.
The whispers of Dishoom's arrival in Leeds city centre have been going on for a while now, but over the past few weeks it has started to feel very real.
Taking over the beautiful old Flannel's site on the coveted Vicar Lane, signs started to pop up for Dishoom and work was cracking on fast.
Well now, we have an opening date - and we don't have long to wait.
Dishoom Leeds will open on Monday 3 August, with guests being able to enjoy 50% off food during an initial soft-opening period, ahead of the official opening on Friday 14 August.

As with every Dishoom café, the Leeds restaurant begins with a story. This one takes inspiration from the extraordinary true events surrounding the explosion of the SS Fort Stikine in Bombay Dock in April 1944, a wartime disaster that sent gold bars flying across the city.
Legend has it that some of the missing gold was never recovered. Some was discovered embedded in walls and rooftops across Bombay. Other pieces quietly disappeared into the hands of lucky citizens, melted into bangles or hidden away in drawers.
Dishoom Leeds reimagines the fortune made from the gold bars and guests will discover subtle references to the glamorous mid-century details through the interiors and artwork, giving playful nods to Bombay’s golden age.
With all day dining available, guests can dine on the beloved breakfast right through to late evening feasting, with the café will serve a lovingly curated menu of Bombay comfort food inspired by the city’s cafés, grills, street stalls and family kitchens.
