Carousel is going to be the first of its kind in Huddersfield.
A new arcade-bar is opening in Huddersfield and its going to be full of all our favourite games.
Opening this Friday, 28 January on Cross Church Street, Carousel is the latest bar to open that's got us commuting from Leeds. Given the new bar is just thirty minutes from Leeds and will easily fill a full night's activities with a range of old-school arcade games on its own, it's definitely going to be worth the trip.
Ski ball, racing cars and a giant football table are just some of the set-ups available for you and your nearest and dearest to tackle as day turns to night and the new Carousel bar comes alive. Expect some serious competition, as well as live DJs during the weekends blaring out every tune to hit that Friday feeling you've been craving all week long.

All the arcade machines are token operated, with tokens available in the venue using either cash or card at one of the exchange machines or at the bar, making it easy to get your game face on and crush the competition. Alternatively, make the most of this high-tech bar and get yourself some tokens by downloading the Carousel app and ordering them directly to your table.
Expect fifteen different cocktails, each extravagantly created by in-house mixologists. The neon coloured drinks match the bright lights inside and are just as aesthetic as the rest of the Carousel set-up.
Drinks are inspired by all of our favourite fairground games and chocolate-covered treats that we would usually encounter as part of the experience. The Kinder Surprise is a sweet concoction of Eristoff Vodka, Baileys, hazelnut syrup, milk and chocolate sauce that's appears to have been designed with our childhood favourite eggs at heart.
Meanwhile the Holy Handgrenade is a reminder of those old school shooting games: think Cointreau, Jäger and red bull as your very own double drop explosion of booze that'll hit your stomach with a bang. There's also the Pew Pew cocktail that promises a sure fire hit of flavour with Tanqueray Gin, lemon puree and sugar. It's also available on a flight board sharer for four as a Tin Can Alley sharer.
All this racing around is bound to work up a healthy appetite and an equally colourful menu of Korean bao buns, fish tacos and halloumi sticks are just some of the tasty dishes on offer.
The four-page food menu will have you spoilt for choice. As if there weren't enough options already, throw five different flatbread options, nine small plates, eight burgers and five different pizzas into the mix and you'll certainly struggle to pick your favourites. The winner for us is the fact that they sell pigs in blankets all year round, so we'll be ordering five rounds of JD honey and ale roasted chipolatas under crispy bacon strips, then looking at the rest of the menu.

Carousel have said that they have "Air hockey, table football, basketball and more. This uniquely interactive environment is perfect for all occasions; from best mates to first dates, stags & hens to birthdays and weekends." and we couldn't agree more.

Dishoom announces official opening date for new Leeds restaurant
Clementine Hall
It's the moment we've all been waiting for, Dishoom is coming to Leeds.
The whispers of Dishoom's arrival in Leeds city centre have been going on for a while now, but over the past few weeks it has started to feel very real.
Taking over the beautiful old Flannel's site on the coveted Vicar Lane, signs started to pop up for Dishoom and work was cracking on fast.
Well now, we have an opening date - and we don't have long to wait.
Dishoom Leeds will open on Monday 3 August, with guests being able to enjoy 50% off food during an initial soft-opening period, ahead of the official opening on Friday 14 August.

As with every Dishoom café, the Leeds restaurant begins with a story. This one takes inspiration from the extraordinary true events surrounding the explosion of the SS Fort Stikine in Bombay Dock in April 1944, a wartime disaster that sent gold bars flying across the city.
Legend has it that some of the missing gold was never recovered. Some was discovered embedded in walls and rooftops across Bombay. Other pieces quietly disappeared into the hands of lucky citizens, melted into bangles or hidden away in drawers.
Dishoom Leeds reimagines the fortune made from the gold bars and guests will discover subtle references to the glamorous mid-century details through the interiors and artwork, giving playful nods to Bombay’s golden age.
With all day dining available, guests can dine on the beloved breakfast right through to late evening feasting, with the café will serve a lovingly curated menu of Bombay comfort food inspired by the city’s cafés, grills, street stalls and family kitchens.
Shamil Thakrar, co-founder, also known as Head Babu, at Dishoom, said: “Leeds is a city with tremendous warmth, creativity and character, full of people who know the value of gathering together over good food and drinks. Bringing Dishoom here has long been a dream for us.”
"The story behind this café is rooted in one of Bombay’s most extraordinary moments – the day gold bars fell from the sky after the explosion of Fort Stikine in 1944. Amidst the tragedy and chaos, there were also tales of unexpected fortune, human resilience and hopeful reinvention. We were captivated by this, and we cannot wait to welcome Leeds into the café that pays homage to the heritage of Bombay.”
