Leeds Bradford Airport named among all UK airports for length of delays

Leeds had an average delay of 20 minutes.

The airport came in 13th out of 26 airports for delays, with Birmingham and Manchester airport topping the list.

Passengers travelling from Leeds Bradford Airport faced an average delay of 20 minutes in 2022, new data has revealed.

According to analysis by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) data by the PA news agency, Leeds Bradford airport ranked 13th out of 26 for average delays.

Birmingham had the worst record and Manchester airport came in second with an average delay of 29 minutes.

On the other end of the scale, the UK airport with the shortest average delay duration was East Midlands Airport at 13 minutes.

They were followed by Luton (28 minutes), Gatwick (27 minutes) and Bristol (26 minutes) airports. East Midlands airport had the best performance, with an average delay of just 13 minutes.

“Our data tells us that too many passengers faced disappointing levels of delays across UK airports last year,” explained the CAA’s Head of Consumer, Anna Bowles.

“It is important consumers experience a high-quality service from both airlines and airports this year [and] we expect airlines to proactively provide passengers with information about their rights when flights are disrupted.”
