Joining the York Christmas Market for 2022 is the Winter Hütte, a two-storey traditional Swiss chalet with a fully licensed bar.
Those looking for the ultimate festive experience can find it this year in the historical city of York as a Swiss chalet is set to take centre stage on Parliament street giving visitors a taste of the alpine life.
The market is taking place from Thursday 17 November 2022 to Sunday 1 January 2023 and it is set to be the best one yet.
So what can you expect from this beautiful cosy cabin? The Winter Hütte bar will be serving up seasonal favourites throughout the festive season, think gluhwein and hot chocolate which you can wrap your mitts around to keep you warm.
Downstairs in ‘The Dog Haus’ you can find draught beers from Brew York and a large selection of wines and cocktails from The Star Inn the City’s mixologist.
The food offering downstairs will be informal and relaxed, perfect for passers by to pop in for a delicious Bratwurst alongside some Spiced Alpine Fries.
Upstairs is where we kick it up a notch, here you will find The Star Inn Restaurant from one of Yorkshire’s best-known chefs, the Michelin-starred Andrew Pern. He will be offering a ‘Swiss with a Twist’ dining experience as guests overlook a spectacular view of the market.
The Winter Hütte menu features alpine classics such as Baked Tartiflette, Fondue and Raclette. There’s also showstoppers such as locally shot Pheasant ‘au Vin’ with smoked garlic and black forest fried potatoes, and to finish Apfel Strüdel with brandy custard.
There’ll also be an outdoor terrace available for drinks so people can watch the world go by whilst sipping a Winter Aperol Spritz or a Forest Negroni.
The restaurant will seat 80 covers and booking is recommended, this can be done on the Winter Hütte website.
