A fly on the wall documentary following Kevin Sinfield as he ran 101 miles for former Rhinos teammate Rob Burrow will air this evening.
‘The Extra Mile’ - The Inside Story will air on Youtube tonight, documenting the former Rhinos player's 101 mile journey back to his home ground.
The rugby player completed a 101 mile run in 24 hours to raise money for Leeds Hospitals Charity and Motor Neurone Disease Association last month, crossing the finish line to be greeted by best friend Rob Burrow.
The route took the rugby coach from his home ground at the Leicester Tiger’s Welford Road to Sinfield’s former club of 18 years, Leeds Rhinos’ at Headingley Rugby Stadium.
The 41-year-old smashed his fundraising target of £100,000, and raised over £2m to date.
The journey from Leicester to Leeds was split into seven kilometre segments and has been broadcast on news channels across the UK, including on a ‘Kev Cam’ from the BBC.

The run was originally planned to span 100 miles, but to show that Sinfield will ‘always go the extra mile’ for his mate Rob Burrow, an extra mile was added to the journey and the final 101 mile route was chosen.
The pair played together for Leeds Rhinos. Sinfield played for the team for 18 years and Burrow, 16.
Two years after his retirement in 2017, Rob Burrow was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease, a life-changing condition that affects nerves in the brain and spinal cord.
This isn’t the first time that Sinfield has pushed himself to raise money for Motor Neurone Disease Association. Last December, the rugby coach raised over £2.7 million for the charity after running seven marathons in seven days.
Now his efforts are being broadcast in a documentary, which fans will be able to watch from 7pm when it premieres on Youtube tonight.

Shortlist for 2026 Mercury Prize announced with several northern names making the cut

The shortlist for the 2026 Mercury Prize has officially landed - and it's another huge year for music from the north.
The prestigious annual award, which celebrates the very best British and Irish albums released over the past 12 months, has unveiled its 12 nominated records ahead of this year's ceremony in Newcastle this October.
Among the biggest talking points is a first-ever Mercury Prize nomination for music legend and northern icon Sir Paul McCartney, whose latest album The Boys Of Dungeon Lane has earned him a place on the shortlist.
Elsewhere representing the north, Newcastle jazz collective Knats have been shortlisted for A Great Day In Newcastle while jungle pioneer Nia Archives, who comes from Bradford, is recognised for her acclaimed album Emotional Junglist.

Another artist flying the Newcastle flag is JADE with her debut solo album That's Showbiz Baby!, whilst other notable nominations include Olivia Dean, RAYE and and the charity compilation HELP(2) from War Child Records.

This year's Mercury Prize ceremony will return to Newcastle's Utilita Arena on Thursday 22 October after the city successfully hosted the awards for the first time last year.
The 2025 event saw hometown hero Sam Fender take home the coveted prize for People Watching, and who knows - maybe The Toon will bag another prize for a hometown hero.
