The Accrington-born star wrote daily horoscopes for The Sun newspaper for almost 23 years.
Mystic Meg, who is one of Britain’s most famous astrologers, has sadly died aged 80 after battling a short illness, reports The Manc.
Having captured the imagination of the nation for the best part of the last two decades, Margaret Lake – known as the character Mystic Meg – was both a star of the screen and press, and was probably most recognised by the British public for having written daily horoscopes for The Sun newspaper for almost 23 years.
She also famously starred on the National Lottery TV show throughout the 1990s, and would often appear with her crystal ball to predict who would win the weekly jackpot.
Born on 27 July 1942 in Accrington in Lancashire, Margaret started out her career worked as a sub editor on a women’s magazine, before going work as a journalist at the now-defunct News of the World publication.
She started her phone-line horoscope readings in 1989 – which is what lead her to becoming a household name across the UK.

But last month, The Sun sadly reported that she was suffering from flu, and was admitted to St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington.
Margaret Lake died at 3:45am this morning, her agent of 34 years confirmed.
Agent Dave Shapland told the paper in tribute: “Without any question, she was Britain’s most famous astrologer by a million miles. Nobody came close to Meg in that respect. She was followed by millions in this country and also around the world.
