Despite facing it’s own problems in the cost of living crisis, a Leeds restaurant will be feeding hundreds of families for free on Christmas Day.
Mumtaz Restaurant is a family-run restaurant located on Leeds Dock serving up traditional Indian cuisine.
This Christmas, in the current cost of living crisis, they have said they will be feeding people for free, whether they need it or not.
From 12 – 2pm on 25 December 2022, anyone can visit the restaurant and collect a pre-made dinner to take home with them.
Although anyone can collect a meal, they have urged people to be conscious of those who actually need a meal. A spokesperson for the restaurant has said there will be 1,000 pre-made dinners made ready for collection on the big day.
As with a lot of businesses, Mumtaz themselves are sadly facing their own financial problems during this trying time but this isn’t stopping them from going above and beyond to help others as much as they can.
A spokesperson from Mumtaz has said “We are doing our part to help with the cost of living crisis. Any person, whether needy or not, please come to us on Christmas Day (December 25) between 12pm to 2pm and we will provide you with a pre-made dinner to take away.
“We ask you to kindly prioritise and think about those who actually will need this bit of festive joy and kindness. We will prepare over 1000 meals so there should be plenty.
“YOU ARE NOT ALONE in these testing times. We are facing our own difficulties with rising utility bills, increased food costs and lower custom due to everyone having that little bit less to spend on “luxuries’ like food.””
