Vegan hot dogs have been trending for a few months now and we're really excited about them. Replacing that (who knows which) meat with plant-based goodness has reignited the flavoursome potential for the classic American dish and now you can get just about any variation you like.
Whether you're a long-time vegan or scranning your way through a plant-based phase, here are our top picks to try in and around Leeds.
Home of the dogging club, Knave's Kitchen offers a rotating range of vegan hot dogs where the flavours change by the month. Previous favourites like the Clifford the Big Red Dog have been made from patatas bravas topping a vegan bratwurst with chorizo seitan and more.
Over at the Kirkgate Markets, Fat Annies is a hidden treasure every vegan needs to have on their agenda. The stall made made the decision to go meat and meat product free in November 2020 after reading a UN Climate report and have gone from strength to strength ever since. Their menu features hot dogs and fries, but it's their hot dogs that have saved us from hangovers many a time.
The lavish Greek Street bar is inspired by the big apple, so it makes sense for the luxe eatery to offer some of America's finest foods and their vegan hot dogs are no exception. The All American Hot Dog is ten inches of meat-free goodness. A Moving Mountains plant-based dog in a brioche bun, vegan cheese, pickles, jalapeños and all the sauces you need: ketchup, French’s mustard and mayo, served with fries. Available on the bottomless brunch and regular menu, pair with as many drinks as you desire.
Full to the brim with the tastiest vegan junk food, BOX’s menu is set to include a game-changing “Not” Dog, which comes fully loaded with jalapenos, ketchup and mayo, served on a brioche bun. This is supplied by Moving Mountains who are known for their amazingly authentic meat substitutes which taste exactly like the real thing.
The frozen yoghurt craze is on its way to Leeds as Kefiyo is set to open in Headingley very soon.
It's a phenomenon that has caught the attention of the TikTok girlies, with frozen yoghurt bars popping up in Manchester and going viral online.
The ice cold sweet treat is supposedly 'healthy' and with a slogan of 'eat Clean. feel Light. live Better.' - this new spot in Leeds seems to be going down that route too.m
Kefiyo will be opening in the old Sixes site on Ash Road in Headingley, and although we don't have a confirmed opening date we've got a feeling they'll be 'scooping' very soon.
The space is already sporting a super cute pastel green and pink exterior, and it's exactly matching the aesthetic that you'd expect with froyo.
Kefiyo will offer a range of frozen yoghurt flavours with a whole bunch of toppings for you to customise to your tastebuds, as well as fresh acai bowls.
Situated slap bang in the centre of Headingley, we've got a feeling it'll be very busy with students on their way to their morning lecture or at night for those looking for a sweet treat that doesn't feel too naughty.

A popular Caribbean street food restaurant is coming to Leeds this spring

Get ready to enjoy a taste of the Caribbean as Jerk Junction is gearing up to open in Leeds.
The street food favourite has made waves in the foodie scene over in Manchester and Liverpool, so it's only right that its making its way into Trinity Kitchen.
Jerk Junction specialises in authentic Caribbean flavours, from dumplings and jerk chicken to curried goat and rice and peas, it's all flame-grilled and packed with island spices.
It is expected to open this spring.

Steven Foster, Centre Director at Trinity Leeds, said: “We’re so excited to be welcoming Jerk Junction to Trinity Kitchen and we’re sure it will prove very popular. Bringing an authentic Caribbean flavour to Leeds, it’s the perfect new addition and complements our already stellar line-up of street food vendors.”

The announcement follows news that the UK’s largest independent boutique bowling brand Lane7, and footwear retailers schuh and Footasylum, would be opening at Trinity Leeds later this year, whilst the LEGO Store will be relocating to a larger space within the shopping centre.
