Heartwarming note left by homeless person on Leeds piano trail

A sweet note of encouragement has been found on one of the displays, telling the organisers of the installation to “keep up the good work.”

A member of Leeds’ homeless community has left a note on the piano trail to show their appreciation for the installation and it is sure to warm your heart.

The streets of Leeds are currently filled with piano displays and sculptures as part of the city’s Leeds piano trail, and it seems the exhibition has struck a chord with the city’s homeless population.

A sweet note of encouragement has been found on one of the displays, telling the organisers of the installation to “keep up the good work.”

Part of the 20th Leeds International Piano Competition, the trail has brought a variety of installations and performances to the centre of the city.

The event is also bringing a range of pop-ups into the city centre, filling the streets with music as a host of local musicians and artists come together to celebrate the unique event.

As part of the trail, sculptures have been installed next to pianos, which are made from upcycled piano parts -designed to encourage curious passers-by to get to know the inner workings of a piano better.

And according to organisers, the displays and pop-up events have led to some wonderful moments with homeless people in Leeds – a number of whom who have reportedly expressed their appreciation and enjoyment for the installations.

A note left for those who had put together the event was found reading:  “Absolutely brilliant keep up the good work guys, from all the homeless.”

Organisers Dave Cartwright and Sam Berill were also reportedly told that the community is protecting their pianos and they didn’t have anything to worry about with regards to vandalism or theft.

“Don’t worry about vandalism you have your own security to protect these sculptures with the homeless, we won’t let anything happen on our watch,” they were reportedly told.

By bringing free music and art into the streets, the pair have opened up the joy of music for everyone – not just those who can afford to buy tickets into venues and concert halls.
