In the run up to Easter, the supermarket chain Iceland is offering fresh vegetables for as little as 1p.
The retailer has discounted all of its fresh veg until Thursday 14 April, slashing prices from £1 to just 1p ahead of the long weekend.
The price cut is hoped to offer somewhat of a lifeline to people being hit hard by the ballooning cost of living emergency.
However, the super cheap vegetables are only discounted online – not in store – which means that fresh vegetable savings are only available this week to customers who use Iceland’s website to place an order, reports The Manc.
The supermarket has reassured its customers that all of its vegetables included in the sale will have a best before date that falls after the Easter weekend, to make sure that anything purchased can still be used in good time before it starts to go off.
To make sure that the offer is applied at the checkout, customers will need to use the discount code ‘ICE1VEG’ when they are paying for their shopping to make sure they get the saving applied to their Easter veg.
Richard Walker, managing director at Iceland, said: “Our 1p vegetable sale was so popular at Christmas, especially when so many other supermarkets hike up the prices of their roast ingredients, that we decided this was a no-brainer to run it again this Easter.
“If we can help people who are feeling the pinch right now to save a few vital pennies while enjoying the same amazing quality of vegetables, then we’ll have done our job of being the supermarket that shoppers can rely on.”
