A pizzeria where every pizza is served with scissors has confirmed its opening date in Sheffield

Forbici is coming to Sheffield and we couldn't be happier.

Always a hot topic of conversation around a pizza is how to eat the damn thing – knife and fork, slice and hold, fold it up?

And now a new pizza concept is heading to Sheffield, where authentic Neapolitan pizzas are always served with a pair of scissors for cutting up your dinner.

We here at The Sheff are firm believers that scissors are a far superior tool for getting your pizza into slices, so news that Forbici (which literally translates as ‘Scissors’ from Italian) is opening in the city centre is music to our ears.

Forbici has officially confirmed it will open its doors in Sheffield’s Millenium Square on Friday 27 March.

And after becoming a firm favourite amongst foodies over in Manchester including none other than Marco Pierre White who hailed it as the 'best pizza I've ever had in my life!', we're sure it's going to go down a treat.

Claiming to be arriving in town with ‘the world’s most powerful pizza dough’, the restaurant hails a ‘new wave’ of pizzeria.

Its roots will be firmly in Naples, with puffy biga dough handmade fresh daily and proofed for 12 hours. It’ll be made so fresh every day that pizzas will only be available while the dough lasts.

Forbici will serve its pizza the Neapolitan way too – quartered (it’s ‘four ways always’, with scissors, which protects that signature airy crust.

Forbici’s signature creations include classics such as the Marinara, Margherita and American, alongside Italian-inspired creations like the Provola e Pepe, topped with San Marzano tomato, smoked provola, black pepper and fresh basil, as well as indulgent white-base pizzas such as the Porcini e Tartufo, loaded with Fior di latte, porcini mushrooms, Italian truffle sauce and chives.

Gosh, we're getting hungry just writing about it.

Much-loved annual Duck Race set to race through Sheffield park this Easter Monday

On your marks, get set...QUACK.

Get your ducks at the ready Sheffield, because the annual Duck Race is back.

Thousands of ducks are getting ready for the race of their lives as the tradition returns to Endcliffe Park this Easter Monday, 6 April 2026.

Organised by the Friends of the Porter Valley, the event has been running annually since 2009 and draws bigger crowds each year.

The race is set to start at 2pm, launching into the River Porter.

This year, all proceeds from the race will go towards new equipment for the Forge Dam Playground.

Anyone can enter by 'adopting' ducks, either individually for just £1 or as a bundle of six for £5. You can either buy your ducks online up until kick off, or in person at Endcliffe Park and Forge Dam.

There will also be stalls on the day selling ducks for any last-minute participants who want to get in on the quack-tion, sorry, or action.

Around 2,500 yellow ducks will be released from a launching tower above Holme Wheel Dam before travelling 450 metres downstream toward the finish line.

The first and fastest 40 ducks to cross the finish line will be recorded and the winners will be announced online in the few days following the race.

If you're not participating but still want to take part, get down early from 11am to cheer them on where there'll be stalls open selling refreshments.

Prizes on offer include a case of Henderson's Relish, two match day tickets to Sheffield United and a day trip for two from Maxfield Travel.

It's time to pull on your walking boots and get out and about in the great outdoors.

As Easter bank holiday weekend approaches, many of us will be looking for the best bar or pub to enjoy a tipple in this spring.

And don’t get us wrong, we will be doing that too, but sometimes it’s refreshing to have some outdoor activities planned to offset those…alcohol emissions! 

Fortunately, Leeds and its surrounding areas boast an abundance of scenic walks, perfect for a day of countryside exploration. 

So stick with us as we take you through the top walks to discover, from historic landmarks to sprawling parks. 

Harewood House

Nestled amidst the Yorkshire countryside, Harewood House offers a perfect blend of history and natural beauty. Explore the estate's extensive grounds, which include woodland trails, beautifully maintained gardens, and a scenic lake.

If you have children, there is an adventure playground they can get lost in, while you can marvel at the stunning architecture of the house itself. There’s a gorgeous 10km walk that loops around the estate offering beautiful views throughout. You can end your walk at one of the cafe’s conveniently located near the car park.

Golden Acre Park

Situated just a short drive from Leeds city centre, Golden Acre Park is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. Grab an ice cream and take a leisurely stroll around the park's tranquil lake.

Burrowed in the park is a bird spotting hut where you can spot wildlife, from ducks and swans to squirrels and rabbits, making it an ideal destination for families.

Otley Chevin

For panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, head to Otley Chevin. With a variety of walking trails ranging from gentle slopes to more challenging hikes, there's something for every ability.

Reach the Chevin summit and be rewarded with breathtaking views stretching as far as the eye can see. It doesn’t just offer walks, but it is steeped in history, homing fossils and sculptures and is a natural playground for your little ones.

Tip: Head to the car park on York Gate road for the best sunset views!

Ilkley Moor

Lace up your hiking boots and venture onto Ilkley Moor, a rugged carpet of heather-covered moorland. Whether it’s a long walk you’re after, or you just want to explore the famous Cow and Calf rocks, which offer exceptional views of the landscape below, make sure you treat yourself to something sweet or refreshing from The Cow and Calf overlooking the valley.

Be prepared, as you might need to familiarise yourself with the well-known Cow and Calf song before your visit!

Roundhay Park

As one of the largest urban parks in Europe, Roundhay Park offers endless opportunities for outdoor adventure. Wander through scenic gardens, or rent a boat to paddle around the tranquil lake. With playgrounds, cafes, and even a tropical world, there's no shortage of activities to keep the whole family entertained.

Kirkstall Abbey

Step back in time and explore the historically-rich ruins of Kirkstall Abbey. Wander through the abbey and its courtyards before strolling towards the adjacent parkland which provides a peaceful getaway from the vibrant life of Headingley. 

Bolton Abbey

Just a short drive from Leeds, Bolton Abbey offers a charming setting for a Bank Holiday walk. Take a walk through its trails along the banks of the River Wharfe, go back in time whilst visiting the abbey itself, and pass through the ancient woodlands walked by the monks themselves! A must-do whilst there is to visit the famous stepping stones whilst enjoying a picnic by the riverbank.
