A new opening could be coming to the Leeds’ suburb of Morley, taking over a building that’s remained vacant for around two decades.
Over in Morley, there’s plenty of wonderful cafes, bars and restaurants to while away the afternoon- and it appears that there’s going to soon be one more to add to your list when visiting.
Hoping to take over a unit that’s remained empty for about 20 years, a planning request has been submitted according to reports from Leeds Live and Yorkshire Evening Post for a ‘drinking establishment’.
The planning statement states the vacant unit, which falls on Queen Street on Morley Bottoms would “enhance the local street scene” and would join the likes of wine bar Bottle & Tap, independent cafe and bar Oscars and social bar Resident.
The statement for the new bar gives a nod to the current drinks offerings in the city, noting that the bars and restaurants in Morley have “prospered” over the past few years.
Back in October, Morley won full approval for £24.3m of Towns Fund grant following the submission of outline plans to the Government in July.
Plans include new and improved public spaces for the community to enjoy, featuring significant development on the Town Square, Queen Street and local parks and playgrounds.
With the funding now confirmed, the exciting plans will now move to the design stage with initial project delivery expected to start in 2023. The delivery work is projected to last until 2026.

It is thought that a decision will be made by the council, as to whether or not the plans to approve a new bar in the coming months.
