The Six Nations returns for 2024, and we've found all the best places to watch the game in the company of like-minded fans.

Whether you're secretly rooting for Ireland to keep hold of the title or ready to cheer on England this year, we've found all the best places to go and pull up a seat in Leeds.

Brooklyn

Call Lane, Leeds city centre | Open from 12pm on weekends or 5pm during the week

Book yourself a seat at the table at Brooklyn and make the most of the private hire options for your chosen team. Grab a hotdog from Slap and Pickle's new venture Dogtown, and a pint of just about anything and enjoy the Six Nations how it was intended: surrounded by like-minded fans on a huge HD screen.

You can bet that the popular New Briggate bar will be back with packed out tables for the matches over the holidays as one of the best known sports bars in the city. The bar is currently undergoing a refurb, but promises to be open in time for the first game - with booking already available online.

The Box

The Box have locations in the city centre and Headingley, so you’re never far from a cold pint of Budweiser or a bottle of wine. You can grab 2-for-1 cocktails, a 20% student discount and a pornstar martinis, served by the stein here too but if that’s not enough, there’s bottomless brunch and seemingly unlimited burger and pizza options to soak it all up.

Pinnacle Beer and Gin Hall

Pinnacle has plenty of keep you entertained throughout the Six Nations, even if you're not the biggest rugby fan. There's 20 draught pints, over 100 gins and an inspired cocktail menu, plus shuffleboard and pool tables.

The Tap Room is the Beck & Call’s dedicated sports room. Complete with pool table, darts and huge TV screens for all the live games, the popular watering hole have stated they will be showing all five round of the Six Nations. Skyrack Headingley

You might recognise Skyrack from your Otley Run days, but the pub does far more than just fancy dress. Pull up a chair at the bar or find a seat around the pub in between the Leeds United memorabilia and watch the Six Nations surrounded by like-minded fans. Same goes for the rest of the Greene King pubs in Leeds, all games will be shown.

Another Otley Run favourite that’s taking on the additional crowds for the rugby. Expect loud speakers, the occasional fancy dress customer and loads to do besides watching the matches. There’s pool tables, giant food challenges and a great beer garden- not to mention a full menu that includes student discounted pints. If you’re still at University, we bet we’ll find you here for the matches.

The Original Oak in Headingley is a favourite for all ages, but if you’re a student looking for some sports action, you’ll feel quite at home at this Otley Run stop. The pub will be showing all the Six Nations games way into March and you can bet that there will be plenty of space for you to join the crowd.

Rebound Social is the home of all things football, but that doesn't mean there's plenty of rugby options to view here too- and there’s even a bottomless brunch option. Pull up a seat and tuck into pizzas and pints aplenty with your chosen company, we imagine that the place will be packed with like-minded fans over the holidays.

The Griffin

The Greene King pub boast that they will be showing every world cup game live over the next six weeks, as well as their usual footy slots on Sky Sports and BT Sport. Located on 31 Boar Lane, The Griffin has all the pints you need to get yourself through the intense games, as well as some proper pub grub on offer too.

You can bet your bottom dollar that Walkabout will be saying G’day to the Six Nations and serving up a feast whilst the matches play out. The Australian-themed sports bar boast space indoors and outdoors, as well as in their dedicated live sports areas, but booking is recommended to make sure you get a spot at the table before kickoff. Expect massive HD screens, a roaring atmosphere and loads of food and drink options.

The full details of the Grand Départ of the 2027 Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift have been released - and the action will be kicking off right in the heart of Leeds.

Preparations have moved up a gear this week, with the full map of the first stage revealed, which will see the world's leading female cyclists setting off from none other than The Headrow.

Leeds will make sporting history on 30 July next year, when we host the start of the world's biggest women's professional cycle race.

When our city was added to the 2014 Tour de France route, around 230,000 people packed into the city centre, with another two million lining the rest of the Yorkshire route - so we're expecting even bigger scenes next year.

The Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift will move from the centre of Leeds to travel through communities including Headingley, Kirkstall, Bramley, Farnley and Drighlington.

Now, an interactive map has been published that gives people the chance to see for the first time exactly which streets will be in the thick of the action next summer.

Riders will set of from The Headrow before travelling down Briggate and Boar Lane - then they'll head via via Woodhouse Lane, Hyde Park Corner and Otley Road into Headingley before travelling west on North Lane and Kirkstall Lane.

Key roads on the rest of the route include:

  • Bridge Road at Kirkstall, which will take the riders across the River Aire;
  • Broad Lane, Waterloo Lane, Lower Town Street and Henconner Lane in Bramley;
  • Butt Lane between its junctions with Pudsey Road – near Farnley Reservoir – and Tong Road at Farnley;
  • Whitehall Road, from its junction with Back Lane at New Farnley, to Drighlington.
  • From Drighlington, the riders will cross into Kirklees and then head over the Pennines into Manchester.

Leeds City Council will be keeping people fully updated about the planning involved to host the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift, including road closures and other traffic management measures.

Following its visit to Leeds, the Grand Départ of the 2027 Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift will run from Manchester to Sheffield on July 31 before finishing in London on August 1.

The event will make Leeds the first place outside mainland Europe to host the start of stage one of a Grand Départ for both the men’s Tour de France and the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift.

Councillor James Lewis, leader of Leeds City Council, said: "The Grand Départ of the 2027 Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift promises to be a great occasion for Leeds and one that will raise our profile on the international sporting stage while also delivering a boost to the local economy.

“Today’s announcement of further route details is a reminder that the countdown to July 30 is well and truly on, with a huge amount of planning and preparation work already taking place.

“As part of that work, we will be doing our utmost to ensure residents and businesses have all the information they need about the arrangements for the day.

“People in Leeds are famed for the passionate support they show when the city hosts major sporting events and I’m sure this one will be no different. Roll on next July!”

Leeds United is home to one of the Premier League’s cheapest stadium pints, new data reveals

Leeds United fans looking for a crisp pre-match pint, you're in luck.

Why? Because new data has revealed Leeds United as one of the Premier League clubs offering the cheapest pints in their stadium

And it's all down to credit card provider Zable, who analysed the average price of a pint at every Premier League stadium.

You'll be glad to know that Leeds United ranked a very respectable eighth among the Premier League teams with the cheapest pre-match pints, with fans paying an average £5.60 at Elland Road.

However, supporters can currently get a cheaper drink at pubs around the stadium, where the average pint costs £4.74.

Ipswich Town have the cheapest pint at £3.50, followed by Coventry at £3.60 and Hull City at £3.90.

The top 10 cheapest stadium match day pints:

  4. Liverpool (£4.80)

Adam McAllister at Zable says: "For many fans, grabbing a pint before kick-off is part and parcel of the matchday experience, but our research shows that where you choose to drink can make a noticeable difference to the price. While stadium pints are often assumed to be more expensive, that's not always the case.

"With the cost of attending football continuing to add up, from tickets and travel to food and drinks, small differences like these can make a real impact on the overall cost of a matchday. Taking a little time to compare prices before heading to the stadium this season could help fans make their money go further, whether they choose to have a pint at the pub or inside the ground."
