Well, not literally…but the hotel will host an impressive light show telling the story of the gingerbread man this festive period.
The instillation, aptly named Magical Night at The Queens, will take place from Friday 15 – Saturday 23 December 2023.
The hotel is no stranger to a light projection, being one of the main attraction during the city’s annual Light Night event in October.
But this is the first time The Queens will host a special Christmas instillation, and we absolutely cannot wait.
Announcing the news to Instagram, the hotel said: “We invite you to join us for a Magical Night at The Queens. The landmark Leeds building will be brought to life, with British actress Celia Imrie to voice our new stunning new city centre animation, taking spectators on a tour around the iconic hotel with the help of one very special guest – The Gingerbread Man.”
The projection is a collaboration between LeedsBID and the Barcelona-based creative studio Onionlab and will be narrated by Calendar Girls and Bridget Jones actor Celia Imrie.

She said about the light show: “Hats off to The Queens Hotel – I have very happy memories of staying there during the filming of The Darling Buds of May. I am delighted to be revisiting this entirely unique hotel and the wonderful city it’s in.”
The 10-minute tale, created using projection mapping to re-imagine the hotel façade, will be played every 30 minutes between 4:30 – 8:30pm.
Andrew Cooper, LeedsBID chief executive, said: “Christmas is a key trading period but also a time for community, so over these nine nights we hope to bring some festive cheer to all.”
