Forget your standard Christmas markets, because this brand-new event is set to be a whole lot sweeter.
Is there anything more comforting than a steaming mug of delicious hot chocolate when the weather gets cold? No, we think not.
Whether it’s tucking into one round a cosy fire or picking one up on the go to escape the chill, it’s the ideal winter warmer for those of us with a sweet tooth.
So you can imagine our sheer excitement when we heard about a Hot Chocolate Festival taking place for the first time ever over in Whitby.

The festival will take place alongside the popular Whitby Christmas Market and promises plenty of activities for chocolate-lovers to get stuck into.
Guests can expect everything from chocolate tastings and immersive cacao therapies to a chocolate-themed shopping trail, family-friendly games, and even film screenings of your favourite Wonka classics.
And it doesn’t stop there, there will also be chocolate painting and moulding, hoopla, a tombola and chocolate board games.

Local businesses will be able to compete in specialist chocolate awards, including Whitby’s Best Hot Chocolate, Best Chocolate Dessert, Best Chocolate Stout and Best Chocolate Cocktail.
Visitors will be able to use the map on the festival website to plan their own chocolate trail made up of local independent businesses taking part.
The best part? Entry to the festival is completely free but is being held in aid of the Whitby Defibrillator Project’s Battery Campaign so any donations will go toward the maintenance of Whitby’s 40 defibrillators.
The Whitby Hot Chocolate Festival will run from Friday 14 November to Friday 28 November, and you can find out more about it here.
