Capture that feeling of eating in the winter sun with the new Caribbean menu from Chophaus.
Typically known as a steakhouse, the popular Roundhay restaurant have brought Dom Taylor, a top London chef, to provide guests with Caribbean food with plenty of flavour and soul.
Creating traditional island dishes, Dom will take up residency at Chophaus from Monday 29 November and the restaurant can’t wait to see his menu come to life.
The popular chef visited Chophaus for a one night event but the restaurant “couldn’t resist” bringing his flavours back to Rounday.
Operation’s Director of Chophaus, Dale Wynter, explained:
“Dom has an incredible reputation and his food isn’t just about filling bellies (though it does that too), but it is about telling a story and letting people try Caribbean food who may not have had the opportunity before.
The menus are creative, yet traditional and it’s great that he will be introducing something new to the people of Leeds.
The flavours are amazing and the menu is sure to put a smile on everyone’s faces.”
The three-course menu will be a feast for the senses, with the likes of ackee and saltfish cakes with scotch bonnet mayo and jerk chicken skewers with plantain jam available to sample.
The classic curry goat and banana blossom stew are both set to be a firm customer favourite, given the effortless fusion of flavours transport you to a faraway Caribbean setting.
The leafy suburb of Roundhay will also host a range of traditional Caribbean dishes like rice and peas, chilli, coriander and lime dressed plantain.
Those with a sweet tooth can explore exotic flavours of sorrel and ginger jelly with a tropical fruit salad and pina colada tart, a pineapple and coconut take on the classic cocktail, on the dessert menu.
Speaking about the takeover, Executive Chef Dom Taylor says: “ With a Jamaican mum and St Lucian father, cooking Caribbean food evokes real nostalgia in me and I want to share that with other people.
I’m looking forward to the takeover at Chophaus. I think it will be a lot of fun. The food is traditional Caribbean food, but with my own personal twist so it’s definitely a little different to what you would normally expect to find at this particular restaurant. I’m sure everyone who comes along to the takeover will really enjoy it.”
The Caribbean menu comes with a set three-course price of £45, but vegans are able to dine for just £30.
