The ultimate night out.

Where else can you guarantee an unforgettable night out every single day of the week?

Roxy Lanes and Roxy Ball Room are both known for their effortless ability to appeal to everyone in the city. Regardless of age or night-out preference, there’s always something to get involved in that’ll draw a smile every night of the week.

Even the least competitive of us can’t help but cheer as the winning strike, throw, curl or ball is potted here: there’s just an indescribable atmosphere that encourages friendly (but nonetheless serious) competition spreads through the crowds.

On the weekend, you’ll need to book well in advance to reserve your spot- but with so many mid-week discounts, it’s well worth a visit during the week. Every Sunday – Wednesday, get up to 20% off bookings for the likes of Roxy’s karaoke rooms, bowling and ice-free curling.

Secure yourself a night out that replaces the usual weekend hustle and bustle with an intimacy that allows you to appreciate your company and chat between games- the only thing left to decide is which Roxy venue you’ll be spending your time.

At present, Leeds hosts three huge Roxy venues across the city and with so many activities to choose from, it can often be difficult to work out which venue is the perfect spot for your chosen team to get involved in. So, we’ve broken down all of the activities you can get involved in every night of the week.

Keep reading to find a complete guide to all the activities you could possibly want to take on at any of the Roxy venues, along with all of the practical information like prices and venue information to help you book your next night out.

Bowling

There’s two different types of bowling available across the venues: ten pin and duck pin. Available mid-week at just £8 per person per game, ten pin bowling is all about the strikes, the spares and the splits: a regular bowling affair that brings out the competitive side in just about anyone, regardless of age or ability.

Duck pin bowling is slightly more technical, but still an all-round crowd-pleaser: the difference is that the pins are slightly narrower, making them harder to score a traditional strike. Rented out by the hour rather than per person, per game, this is exclusively available at Roxy Ball Room, Merrion Street.

Roxy Lanes, The Light: Ten pin bowling costs £8 per person per game throughout the week, with a peak time cost of £10 Thursday – Saturday.

Roxy Ball Room, Merrion Street: Duck pin bowling costs £24 per hour every Sunday – Wednesday or £30 per hour during peak hours.

Roxy Ball Room, Boar Lane: Not available at this location.

Ice-free Curling

There’s a reason that The Light is home to the biggest Roxy Lanes venue: the newly opened site is a whopping three times bigger than the former Bond Street spot and that’s largely so that the company could introduce their most exciting activity to date: ice-free curling.

If you’ve watched the Winter Olympics, you’ll know exactly how this works. The idea is that you slide the ‘stones’ down the ice-free surface and try to get as close to the bullseye as possible, whilst knocking your competition out of the way in the meantime. Imagine a giant life-size shuffleboard game inspired by the snow: there’s nothing else quite like it in Leeds.

Roxy Lanes, The Light: Ice-free curling costs £12 every Sunday – Wednesday per 30 minutes and should be booked in advance to avoid disappointment.

Pool

Like all options at Roxy venues, there are multiple options when it comes to a game of pool: choose from traditional American Pool or Crazy Pool, an exciting alternative that combines the best of crazy golf with billiards across an array of huge pool tables.

Make your way around the course with your pool cue in one hand and score sheet in the other and take on loop-the-loops, jagged corners and obstacles aplenty as you aim for a hole-in-one on the Crazy Pool course. Alternatively, if you want to keep the game plain and simple, American pool is available at two of the three Roxy venues in Leeds.

Roxy Lanes, The Light: American Pool is available by the hour from £12.

Roxy Ball Room, Merrion Street: Crazy pool is available at a bargain rate of £8 per person per round during off peak hours.

Roxy Ball Room, Boar Lane: American pool is also on offer here, with the same prices as The Light venue.

Shuffleboard

Experts believe that the Leeds-night-out-staple game of shuffleboard began over 600 years ago in Europe- and we can see why it’s still popular as ever today. The aim of the game is to use paddles to ‘shove’ pucks towards the target area and collect as many points as possible- making it an easy-to-understand game no matter how many pints in you are.

Roxy offers two different types of shuffleboard and has introduced the ‘bank shot’ style to their Merrion Street venue. The only difference is that the usual 22ft board has been shrunk to a 12ft table- meaning you can fit more players around the table and adds an exciting new play length that will challenge even the most confident of traditional shuffleboard players.

Roxy Lanes, The Light: Shuffleboard costs £12 per hour or £15 during peak opening hours.

Roxy Ball Room, Merrion Street: Both bank shot, and regular shuffleboard can be played at this venue, both cost the same price of £12 per hour, regardless of the number of players.

Roxy Ball Room, Boar Lane: Shuffleboard costs £12 per hour or £15 during peak opening hours.

Karaoke Rooms

The karaoke room is open seven days a week, but you can get a midweek discount if you visit Sunday to Wednesday, making it just £24 an hour for your own private stage- name a more affordable way to live a life like a pop star for the day.

Roxy Lanes, The Light: unavailable at this location.

Roxy Ball Room, Merrion Street: all karaoke experiences are charged by the hour, ranging from £24 Sunday – Wednesday and a peak rate of £30 per hour every Thursday – Saturday.

Beer/Ping Pong

Whether you like your bat and ball games to be a boozy race against other players, or you’d rather sip cocktails between bats: both of the Roxy Ball Room venues will have you covered. The aim of each is simple, keep the ping pong ball on your opponent’s side of the table and either make them miss their shot or if you’re playing beer pong, aim to hit the ball into your opponent’s cup- either way there will be plenty of drinks downed, fits of laughter and an air of friendly competitiveness.

If that’s not enough, Roxy Beer Pong comes with four selected drinks of your choice, so there’s no additional costs at the bar for your first two games.

Roxy Lanes, The Light: unavailable at this location.

Roxy Ball Room, Merrion Street: Beer pong is available from £18 per hour, regardless of the number of players whilst ping pong comes at either £15 during peak times or a reduced rate of £12 during the off-peak times of Sunday – Wednesday.

Roxy Ball Room, Boar Lane: here, the same prices and timings as Merrion Street are used so see above for details.

Mini golf is a fail-safe mate or date night option, regardless of who you’re with or what night you’re out on. At just £6 per person per round, make your way around the intrepid course of themed golf holes and try to get your ball in the hole in as little moves as possible. A hole in one is rare here, but that doesn’t mean you won’t astound your teammates with your swings.

Food and Drink

All these games are bound to build up an appetite- luckily all Roxy venues have an overwhelming choice of sharing dishes to pass around your team of bowlers, golfers, curlers, gamers and singers. Expect a choice of veggie and meaty pizzas, as well as skin-on-fries, cheesy dough balls, crispy chicken fillets and mac and cheese bites.

If you’d rather keep your food to yourself, order pizza by the slice for just £3 or grab any slice and fries for just £5.50. Wash all this down with signature vodka cocktails like a ‘Ping Star Martini’ or ‘Baby Got Back Spin’ or if you’re really looking to party into the early hours, lemon drop, and Kool-Aid shots are available for just £3.50 each.
