New kitchen set to open inside White Cloth Hall as popular Malaysian cafe bids farewell

When one door closes, another one opens…

White Cloth Hall opened just about a year ago, and since then it’s become one of the best foodie hot spots in the city.

The beautiful Grade II listed building is home to four resident kitchens, all boasting their own cuisine from modern Mexican to Italian focaccia sandwiches.

But all good things must come to an end as Kuala Lumpur Café will be leaving White Cloth Hall at the end of the month.

It’s not all bad though, the wonderful team behind Kuala Lumpur Café currently run their much-loved original cafe over in Headingley and have recently opened Mr Chong’s Chinese Kitchen in Hyde Park.

So they’re not officially saying goodbye, they’re just embarking on an exciting new chapter.

Justin from KLC said: “It’s been an honour serving our food at White Cloth Hall and sharing it with the people of Leeds. We have loved hearing all the amazing feedback from customers too.

“As we focus on our new project, Mr Chong’s Chinese Kitchen, we wish White Cloth Hall continued success as it grows into one of the best food halls in the UK”.

But do not fear, as you’ve still got chance to grab a bowl of their fabulous beef rendang and scoff a few bao as they’ll be hosting their final service on Sunday 28 September.

And as White Cloth Hall makes way for another kitchen to move in, we’ll be sat on tenterhooks waiting to see who’s stepping up to the plate. Or what’s landing on our plate, you could say.

We’ll keep you updated when we know more, but for now pop into White Cloth Hall and say your goodbyes to Kuala Lumpur Café – they’re going to be missed.
