Forbes have suggested gross mortgage lending will peak this year at £316bn – up 31% on 2020, and Halifax have shared a 3.4% increase in house price in autumn 2021. This sharp increase may continue into the new year, given overall we have just had the highest quarterly rate since late 2006 and Nationwide have claimed prices are 10% higher now than this time last year.
